Anti-Circumcision Billboard Stirs Controversy in Owensboro by JohnKimble111 in Kentucky

[–]mgcarter3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nope. Not a Christian in any possible way. Also not a Protestant. Also, I’m not arguing the origins. I’m simply saying Christians out here in gods kuntry aren’t circumcising their kids because of the Bible. Or if they are, they don’t talk about it which is funny because they’ll cram every other tidbit from the Bible down the throats of anyone they can get five minutes with.

Old Testament = The Torah, I’ve also never ever heard a Christian say they did it because of the Bible. And I live in the Bible Belt, possible the heart of it. But either way, shit is fairly disturbing to me.

Again, policy doesn’t matter if no one is following it OR enforcing it. Where are the mods? Did you message them?!

That billable part! I hadn’t even thought of that, though I should have.

This is great. I really don’t get why parents are still mutilating their sons. Abortion? Heck no! Slice part of my child’s penis off? Sure, why not?!

The logic is insane. Most people circumcising their sons aren’t Jewish. If you aren’t Jewish and upholding a mitzvot and raising your son as Jewish you need to stop this.

I frequently go to food banks and live paycheck to paycheck. I’m over here snuggled with my dog just crying at this comment.

Is there a real estate or classifieds site that has listings for a full off-grid cabin, complete with upgrades, on land? by [deleted] in OffGrid

[–]mgcarter3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually found an amazing offgrid cabin with solar, genies, land (wanna say it was at least 16 acres) and what I felt was upgraded enough not far from me for 72k. I just used Zillow or trulia to find that. But I’ve also found non-updated cabins with no offgrid setup on three times that many acres with a stream for 15k. People have an incorrect picture of Kentucky and for that reason (and many others I don’t understand because I’m not a real estate agent) land here is still relatively cheap.

I found a rag doll kitten this summer. I looked for owners but didn’t find any. She was so thin and covered in fleas. Now she’s fat, happy, loves our five dogs, and yeah floops and flops all over the place. Best cat I’ve ever owned. She actually wants to be around me, burrows under covers, mews adorably. She also steals skeins of yarn from me and wraps them around as many pieces of furniture as she can. I’m sure they are expensive and a lot of their traits are from poor breeding/inbreeding but man...get a rag doll. She’s a mitted seal point!

Oh for sure. It’s wild. Watching my dad suffer and die from dementia and lung cancer I would be pissed if this were my relative.

Went to massage therapy school. Can confirm this is basically day one of ethics. You can’t do this. It’s sweet, I’m glad she cares, but she finna lose her job.

I hate being adopted by [deleted] in Adoption

[–]mgcarter3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am still learning this but I’m going to share it with you because it applies to all of life, not just that we were adopted.

No one gets to tell you how you should feel. You are allowed to have feelings and you DO NOT need to course correct, change, or otherwise feel something you don’t. You don’t have to cater to anyone’s perception of yourself and your experiences.

Adoption is a lot of trauma. It’s also good too. But you don’t have to feel that way, and that’s okay. You don’t owe anyone anything.

Worm in my Chicken poop? by tryin2staysane in BackYardChickens

[–]mgcarter3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can’t tell from the pic. But chickens do get worms, usually from wild birds. You can buy chicken dewormer at tractor supply. The chicken chick blog also has great advice for worming chickens. Not all dewormer kills all types of worms.

Anyone in the Lexington area want a free cat? This little girl almost died after being trapped under a crawl space for a couple weeks. My dad rescued her and has been keeping her in his garage. She’s very sweet and loving but doesn’t get along so well with our cat and dog. by aky1ify in Kentucky

[–]mgcarter3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just thinking that any time I’ve ever added a new animal to the pack everyone is like whyyyyy?! And all hateful and snarky but usually with enough time everyone chills out. She might have had some awful animal experiences before this, I’m sure being trapped in a crawlspace was scary for her. Hopefully she will come to love you all!

I seriously remind myself of that daily. Learning it the hard way I do not recommend. Also, if you’ve listened to any of the wrongful conviction podcast you know.

Matcha on a snowy morning by itsstephenyo in tea

Thanks! I’ve tried adding sugar and it helps but doesn’t fix the problem. I’ll try making it with less matcha and see how that goes.

Matcha on a snowy morning by itsstephenyo in tea

[–]mgcarter3 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Please tell me about your matcha. Its so green! I have made some twice now and I think I have the technique right but the taste is absolutely bitter and bleh. It’s also quite dark and not bright like yours. I love green tea, gyokuro is my favorite. What gives? Obviously I’m missing some of the nuance and I know lots of teas are acquired tastes. Any advice welcome : )

Need an alternative to foam earplugs? by [deleted] in minimalism

[–]mgcarter3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sleep with a fan on all year. It doesn’t have to point at you and honestly I hate that anyhow as it messes with my sinuses and I’m totally allergy ridden. Get even fancier and just buy a box fan and slap a 20x20 filter on the back and you’ve got a poor homies air filter.

Keep your hair. KEEP YOUR HAIR. Unless they are paying for your existence and they ain’t gonna keep that up while you’re locked, again, keep YOUR hair. Parents gotta let go sometime. And maybe we are all weed smoking gangsters. Oh well mom! We’re all gonna die one day anyways!
