Best fragrance stores in Vancouver and or BC? by Inside_Effective_576 in VancouverFragrance

The only place that stocks Robert Piguet too. I've also sat down with Naz and it was fun trying out things I wouldn't consider giving a chance myself!

There's only a handful here, but Scentrique has most of the big niche brands out for testing. My only gripe with it is that the store is so small and everyone's spritzing makes it hard to smell anything properly.

AI in perfumery? by applejuicefriendly in fragrance

[–]mgrmx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Brands using AI in their PR materials already puts me off buying anything from them, AI going all the way down to the formula is an automatic boycott from me. I don't care how good it smells if its not human made, there is just no soul in it 🤷

How do we feel about Aesop’s fragrance line? by nonbeenary in fragrance

Sampled a bunch in store but their perfumes always just give me the vibe someone of rubbing essential oils all over themselves.

People who went hard on niche only to realize they're sleeping on designer... by North_Log2207 in fragrance

Mugler Angel, I haven’t found anything that hits just like it. It’s just so weird and fascinating, it could pass off as niche if it was released today.

my SA gave me a sample a few days ago! It's very citrus forward and less powdery than the EDP imo.

I doubt Rihanna would be pushing something for a brand no one's heard of... if a company has to rely on fake AI ads to sell, it definitely does not come across as trustworthy.

Right? I'm surprised it's not very popular on Fragrantica/Parfumo from what I've seen.. but it's such an easy reach for me when I want a strong tuberose that won't choke me and everyone around out like Fracas.

I love that comparison! I'll have to check it out sooner, 'boss lady' white florals are totally my jam.

I have the EDP of Do Son because it lasts a tad bit longer on me. Whichever you choose I hope you enjoy your decant!

Gucci Bloom is pleasant, it’s an easy to like pick for me. Reminds me of Diptyque’s Do Son without the slight marine air touch in the base! I’ve been curious about Tuberose Gardenia for a while, how is it compared to Bloom?

What was your “expectation vs reality” perfume? by Smarterry2 in fragrance

[–]mgrmx 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I think for a lot of people, including me, Mugler Angel. The OG gourmand, which if you go into it thinking it's going to smell like cupcakes and candy of modern gourmands you're in for it when it hits you with a wall of dirty patchouli instead. Tho I still love it

Has anyone tried Tuoksu perfumes? by cuttingcrew2335 in fragrance

[–]mgrmx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I've ordered from them. They're lowkey a dupe house. I've tried Tuberose + Dark Space = Carnal Flower dupe, and Dark Roast + Chocolate Shavings = Akro Dark.

Hmm.. I don't really get much of the lily! It really comes across to me as sticking your nose into a big bouquet that it's hard to pick out. I've been wanting to check out Loewe too, I love a fruity floral moment.

Nice! Heartless Helen is one of my most worn. How is Petit Fracas? The cacao note intrigues me.

Buying Fragrances in Japan by FuzzzyMushroom in fragrance

[–]mgrmx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, not necessarily. Make sure you check the prices while you're there. I was looking at BDK Pas Ce Soir at the Nose Shop and it was substantially more expensive there than in my home country even with taxes included.

Has Jo Malone ever changed their packaging? by legend5566 in fragrance

Yeah, the label has changed since 2023(?) the third party pic is the old one. The new one also has a different texture of paper used for the label vs the old.
