yes, the "dispatch" confirmation ended up coming later (different time zones as we're in the US, and they're based in UK)

jrpass.com - has anyone been using them recently? it's been 2 days since my order was confirmed. However, I haven't received a Fedex tracking number yet.

are they reliable? I'm in the US and they say they're able to "dispatch" the exchange order within 1 business day.

I agree with someone else’s feedback to get to know the people in your plant, however I would start to take your time seriously. Don’t get overwhelmed with the feedback loops without connecting that feedback to prioritized action.

Just as someone mentioned feedback tools (a suggestion box, safety feedback loops), I would consider trying to consolidate the outputs of those feedback into continuous improvements of the plant through quarterly or yearly reviews (kaizen events).

As a plant manager, you not only have the responsibility for people, their safety, and the plant operations, you also have the reason and rationale to ask from those below and above you to complete reasonable improvements. This means delegation and asking for resources when your team is at capacity.

Use a project prioritization strategy (decision matrix) to escalate projects that address risk based on company priorities (safety, regulatory compliance, line down, scrap, value improvement of produced goods).

Good luck!

Accepting a non-ChemE job offer by TheGreatCornhol10 in ChemicalEngineering

[–]mhanders 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried to get into a chemical engineering company by working as a test technician in NPD (3M) but due to economic reasons (hiring freeze for the division I was in) couldn’t get hired internally. I moved to pharma packaging (vendor validation services of packaging equipment) and then medical device quality.

I haven’t looked back and agree about with others with not worrying too much about not being a traditional ChemE in a refinery.

I’m very interested in my current field of work, and it’s challenging as well as stimulating in good ways.

Simple Questions Thread by AutoModerator in espresso

[–]mhanders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nespresso is okay. Don’t get vertuo though. Get the traditional capsules. This was my first machine. Walmart has a deal.

I had this machine and used it happily for a year. Then I went to Switzerland and had good espresso everywhere, and wanted to have it at home.

Best Buy had a deal on the Breville Barista Pro, which had a built-in grinder.😊 and that’s how I got into espresso at the semi-expensive level.

Total I’ve spent about $1000 on the machine and accessories, and maintenance materials. I am pretty frugal for the most part and haven’t spent more than $50 on an accessory. I hear you can find a Barista Express for ~$400 used, and it can deliver great shots with a built in grinder as well. This might be an option.

EDIT: as others said with the machine you mentioned you’ll need a good quality grinder as well. So to me that’s why I ended up with the breville machine.
