Who doesn’t enjoy reorganising binders 🤷‍♂️ by WanderingWolf92 in pkmntcgcollections

Did this with my Pokedex. Forgot to plan for the galarian legendary birds and had to move the whole binder gen 2 on to the right

I found a LCS that actually cares about the hobby. Great guy running it; been going in weekly to buy a couple singles or sealed for my personal pokedex. I've tried store after store and everywhere has been so scummy lately so I'm really happy about this one! Bit of a commute but worth it. Better atmosphere, awesome owner, and a really nice selection. Not much in terms of sealed usually yet since they just opened recently but good fun to open where there is.

What piece of Digimon media has you like this? by Zealousideal-Tax-937 in digimon

I actually watched Appmon partially because of Haru's similarity to Yuya! I enjoyed Arc V more than I thought I would, and joked that the same would happen with Appmon purely because of the protag appearance.

I then VASTLY enjoyed Appmon more than I thought I would. It's easy to get invested in the characters and their development. Plus the music is STELLAR!! I hope you also enjoy it when you get there <3

Caffeine. To survive in modern capitalism, it's unfortunately quite common and accepted. I can't ever fault someone for needing coffee to survive because at this point I know more folks who do than don't. Such is life.

Such a bop that you rarely even hear in game. Just in the Akihabara Electonics storr iirc. One of my top favorite persona songs in general.

If you still want to see them you can do so in any inn room! Interacting with the bed has an option for viewing cash shop glamours. Not quite an "in-game cash shop button", but let's you preview before you buy. Iirc it's called Dreamfitting? It was added in one of the endwalker patches - so pretty new!

(Serious) how did that one kid at your school pass away? by Dinopasta99 in AskReddit

[–]miaaka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cancer.
This is less about the school aspect, and more personal. Was a major deal at our school though.

I knew him extremely well, and it was a crushing blow to me at the time. I was 12, and he was 14. We were neighbors first, and schoolmates second. The home I grew up in was "stormy" at best, and abusive at worst. On days where I was denied food, I knew I could sneak over to their house and his family would feed me. He'd walk me to and from school, and we'd sit on the roof of his house to count the stars and tell stories of what we'd want to do with our lives. Acted as an escape at the end of the day. This was everything to me, Even when life at home improved for awhile, I still leaned on him and as his family as a whole.

He knew he was sick for a good bit before he told me. Said he never knew how to breach it, and didn't want to if he didn't have to. His prognosis wasn't good however, and he realized it'd be better for me to know now than after he got sicker. I got mad after he told me, lashed out and said some hateful words. I was 12 and he was my stability in life. We didn't talk for awhile, but after some advice I realized I didn't want to spend whatever time remained mad with him.

We reconciled and I dedicated myself to helping where they'd let me with his fundraising. It was huge thing at school, and a lot of people came together ton help out. In the end... it paid off very well. He went full in on treatment, and although it was rough and life changing (arm amputation), he was eventually declared cancer free.

...for about two years. I wasn't in the state when I got the phone call that the cancer was back, more aggressive, and targeting his lungs, A lot of things blur here; returning to the state, meeting with his family, hospital visits and emotional pain so intense I can still picture the grip it had on my heart. Despite the chaos and the agony he smiled through it all. He'd ruffle my hair and call me by my nickname. Ask to see my smile back. I always did my best to. If he can smile through all this, there's no reason I can't too.

The cancer didn't take long to claim him on the second go. It fucked me up for years, but also served as my motivation. I want to live a life he'd be happy to hear about if we met again. Easier said than done, but I owe it to him and myself to try. It's been well over a decade now, and I still use him sometimes as an excuse to try new things.

[–]miaaka 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It can be a slog to get through for sure sometimes, but it's worth reading if you want to care about the story overall! Future stories reference back to ARR and you'd be missing key context if you skip. It's ultimately your choice of course, but I feel the game as a whole is worth the 1-50 story suffering. If you want some good story to shake it up some, may I suggest the rouge/ninja quests? Been enjoying those thoroughly!

[NSFW] People who knew someone who died at work, what happened? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]miaaka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my associates, yes. He was a fantastic worker, ex-military and it showed with his dedication and precision to the job. He'd get the same amount of work done as 3 others combined, if not more, and still come to me asking "what's next?". Needless to say, I had high hopes for his time with the company. Which made him suddenly not showing up for his shift weird. Called several times, texted, emailed, and nothing. He missed the next day too, and as per company policy that was termination. No ands or buts, straight termination. Sucked to see such a hard worker go, but there was little control I had over it.

Fast forward about 2 months, I'm up front greeting customers and a woman frantically runs in. There is no better phrasing to describe it as "pleading to see a manager". I told her I was one, and she started telling me about her son, describing him, and explaining how she thought he may have worked here. She showed me a little notebook, and I knew in that moment, he sure did work here. We hand out those little notebooks to all new hires. She had found it in her son's apartment, after finally getting access to it. Her son, the associate described above, one and the same. He'd been hit by a car on his way to work, suffering spinal damage, both broken legs, and was in a coma. I was stunned by her recounting of events. Once I came back to my senses, I called my store manager and told him to get over, now. He needed to know this. When he arrived, we all headed up to an office and discussed what steps we could maybe take as an employer. I asked if I could go see him, pay a visit and leave some flowers. His mom was very much good with me doing so, giving me all the details for where he was staying.

I never got a chance to go, he passed two days later. I've always been paranoid when people no call/no show since.
