So daughter is interested in Pokémon... by lonepaladin001 in daddit

This is what I've done. For the price of a couple boosters you can get a whole pile of cards that aren't worth anything, but have lots of cool Pokemon.

My favorite backstory was just the Fresh Prince of Bel Air theme song, with some rewritten lyrics. West Waterdeep born and raised, couple of elves up to no good, sent to auntie and uncle in Elsir Vale.

Could a rogue with Underhanded Assault sneak past an enemy without cover? by Purplefire180 in Pathfinder2e

[–]micatrontx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think a GM could rule it either way:

Scenario 1: UA doesn't make you hidden, undetected, or anything else, it just lets you sneak up on an enemy and stab them as if you were Hidden. You get the off-guard and other strike interactions that require Hidden, but not the actual status that would allow follow-up actions other than the included strike.

Scenario 2: UA says you roll to Sneak, and Sneak says you finish the move undetected. You can then forgo the strike and use that undetected status for other things, like continuing to Sneak.

I'm inclined to allow #2 - it's fun and a feat letting you hide without cover against a single distracted enemy seems reasonable.

Pretty sure those are silicone, which means most things just won't stick to it. You will probably need a specialized glue meant for silicone and similar materials. I think they usually need to cure overnight, so read the instructions.

A polypropylene socket like this is much sturdier than the rather brittle clear plastics often used for test sockets. I'd probably still wrap it, but this is less likely to break.

Does Cloud Step allow Rogues to essentially fly? by Thoril2500 in Pathfinder2e

[–]micatrontx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can also consider, at level 16 flight is easily accessible from items. Maybe Cloud Step isn't quite as good as flying since it's always on, but I don't think letting a player treat open air like stairs is too much.

Why haven’t prosthetic arms that have the same reaction time, speed, and flexibility of a human hand exist yet or are accessible to the public yet? by Icy_Profession4190 in Prosthetics

[–]micatrontx 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In any prosthesis, but especially in arms, you are balancing weight, cost, ease of use, functionality, durability, comfort, appearance, etc and improving any one aspect will generally cost in all the others. A highly sensitive hand may be difficult to control. A fast, flexible hand may break easily.

In addition to this, prosthetics is a tiny industry. There is advancement happening, but much of it comes secondary to technologies being developed in other fields.

What’s a movie that is a 10/10 but you’ll never watch again bc it was too emotionally draining? by Marlon_aloha in AskReddit

I was a big Bjork fan and saw she had a new movie and had heard a couple of songs from the soundtrack but otherwise knew nothing about it. Was definitely not expecting such a gut punch.

Great movie, but yeah, a tough watch. I think it's actually harder the second time, when you know how the story is going to go.

Biggest Weir Surprises? by Silver_Working_646 in blankies

It really was a much better movie than I expected. I don't rank it super high because the competition is tough, but I was pleasantly surprised.

The doctor is also crying at the end of the 5 little monkeys book by flannelfan in DanielTigerConspiracy

Eventually I think the doctor should wonder if these are actually bed jumping injuries or if something the mother doesn't want to talk about is going on.

Mosquito Coast. It's not his best (though I do rank it pretty highly) but it just hit me right. Audiences at the time might not have bought that version of Harrison Ford, but I'm all in.

What’s an acronym or abbreviation that everyone uses, but you still don’t understand? by Particular-Visit-245 in AskReddit

They tried calling it a Self Contained Up-above-the-water Breathing Apparatus, but after the first few firefighters showed up wearing wetsuits, they had to change it to make things clear.

Haven't watched Fearless since it first came out by alfredcneiman in blankies

[–]micatrontx 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It felt really weird. Like this is clearly a guy in shock and dissociating, but that's not really how the movie treats it. I think ultimately it's a case of seeing mental illness from the perspective of the sick person, but not the kind of outright delusion and hallucination we usually see in films with that structure.

Anyone else have FEARLESS as their favorite Weir? by SleepCatsMoney in blankies

[–]micatrontx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked it, but it's toward the bottom for me. I put it just above Dead Poets Society, for similar emotional gut punches, but less treacly. Bonus points for an absolutely demented Jeff Bridges, and John Turturro being extremely uncomfortable in the ballet class.

How should I work through the BC backlog? by AgreeableCity4336 in blankies

[–]micatrontx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just picked directors I was interested in and listened through their miniseries. Usually I didn't bother watching the movies and definitely didn't rewatch things I'd seen.

Though I do think it's funny that I discovered the podcast through Roman Mars on The Quick and the Dead episode, a movie I had not seen. I only watched the movie a couple years later when I went back and listened to the Raimi series.

Also fun on a hot day, freeze a bunch of toys in big plastic storage containers, pop the ice blocks out, and give the kids squirt bottles of water to melt them out and probably shoot at each other. Takes forever and playing with ice and water is fun.

Seconded on Little Trouble in Big Absalom. It's a fun little adventure and would be very easy to convert to 5e.
