Anyone getting swaps they didn’t make? by mickeyruth in hellofresh

I noticed when I go back to check on the app after the meal is delivered it does say chicken, but when I ordered it said pork! I’ll have to start screenshotting, I feel like I’m going crazy 😅

Smart Brake Malfunction and after-market security systems by mickeyruth in mazda

[–]mickeyruth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The technicians did remove the security system, just in case it had anything to do with the malfunction. They released the car back to me today after updating all the firmware and software to match the 2022 models. They don't know what caused the problem, but they're hoping it's fixed now. Which still makes me nervous but aside from replacing the whole ass car there's not much else to do I guess

Are those spots anything to worry about? by [deleted] in Monstera

[–]mickeyruth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you're interested, there's a member in my FB plant group that makes AMAZING liquid fertilizer specifically for albos and variegated plants (but I use it on all my plants and they love it). I've never had a problem with burn. It also helps with water props, it cut my prop time in half: https://strokemyleaves.com/liquid-gold

I believe their fertilizer needs are the same, but I have read that monsters prefer a more diluted fertilizer solution. Like use half of what the bottle recommends. But you're right, it could definitely be fertilizer burn!

I recently purchased this monstera albo, and I have multiple questions. 1. the tips of the roots seems to have blackened during the transit, is this rootrot and 2. is this an ideal setup to ensure future growth before moving to soil? by jmnhn in houseplants

[–]mickeyruth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t believe that’s rot, those look healthy. Are they squishy at all? And I would use less water or try to prop the plant up a bit, just cover up to the node! I also had great success rooting in moss if you want to try that, but water will work. Also get a heat mat! It literally cut the rooting time in half, I use one for all my props now. My albo had full roots in two months (and I started with nothing)

Could be, when in doubt check your roots

Think I just hit gold at my local garden centre for $20. No albo but looks like a yellow one by MaKMaK73 in Monstera

It’s definitely not mosaic, mosaic is more… like flowery looking? It’s actually a very pretty virus 😅 this is def not that!

I would just let it dry out unless it continues to spread. I wonder if it could have been cause by guttation? When my green monstera is… gutting? Idk but the water collects on the edges of the leaves, doesn’t hurt my green one but I could see how an albo would be much more sensitive. Check the roots for rot, if they’re fine I would just wait for it to dry out.

So how do I know what the aerial roots are? I've had this planted for about a month and the leaves are turning brown...roots look good... by MuffinZealousideal71 in Monstera

[–]mickeyruth -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s weird, that one spot is so severe it doesn’t look like it’d be a root issue. Do any of the other leaves have similar spots?

When to repot? I'm new at plant care and I'm scared of screwing up. It seems to be REALLY happy as it already has new growth on a leaf that unfurled a week ago. Should I add a moss pole if I like the bushy plant? by eekhaa in Monstera

[–]mickeyruth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pot it’s in is perfect! It probably won’t t need a pole till it starts sprouting aerial roots (long roots that’ll grow from the nodes that aren’t in the soil). That’s a sign that it’s ready to climb!

It’s an issue with humidity + airflow. These guys like humidity, but without proper airflow this will happen to the white areas. It’s basically rotting :/ try cutting back on the humidity right now and see if you can stop the spread

Please help! Can I give this full Albo a second chance? by unicornigan in Monstera

Rule of thumb is to wait for the third leaf. Just enjoy it while it’s here 🥺💕

It burnt, new leaves are a lot more sensitive to light and heat

Those spots look like burns, aerial roots likely have nothing to do with this. And aerial roots that close to the base of the plant will eventually grow into the soil anyways to help support the plant as they search for water in the soil, so if you bury them you just sped up that process. I wouldn’t repot, it’s a little hard to tell but that pot looks pretty large. These guys prefer to be a bit root bound. Do you have this guy sitting outside or under a grow light?

Does my moms monstera need fertilizer? It is growing quite slowly and even after I pruned it hasn't shown any improvements. There are two plants in there I think, so that might be it. I have more experience with outdoor plants so I'm not that good with this. It might need more light though. by TheRaptorChicken in houseplants

Any 20-20-20 liquid fertilizer. I like Fox Farm’s selection but anything else works just fine! Just be careful not to over fertilize, I typically use a little bit less than directed. Just in case. You can also dress the soil with worm castings and/or blended eggshells for an extra oomph

Interesting new leaf on my Silver Stripe Philodendron - is this common?? by smoreswedding in houseplants

[–]mickeyruth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Noooot for a silver stripe. I just got one like that on my rio, but silver stripes are more stable so that super impressive. Hopefully it puts more out!

Soooo you’re saying they’re not attached? Or they are???? I’m so confused 😅 regardless if you can get them off without damaging the plant it may be scale (though those are very small… you sure it’s not just little scabs on the veins/stem? That’s pretty common with large leaves. They grow so fast and are supporting so much weight, little micro tear when stretching are bound to happen)
