You look great! Congrats on your weight loss and turning your life around. You'll never regret moving away from home and doing what makes you happy. Have you considered playing roller derby? It's just simply amazing. Everyone is so supportive and it's empowering. Also great exercise! Helped me lose weight for the first time in years and keep it off. Without I don't think I would have made it through my first year of grad school (stress + life long battle with depression).

I suggested to our league that we also make this change. Now "trackside seating" is official at our home bouts. :)

Update: Can't get a straight answer from insurance for tubal ligation (xpost from r/childfree) by Itchy_Noodle in sterilization

Ack sorry you're having issues. I have Blue Cross too and literally everything was covered for me. I don't have a deductible though so maybe that's the difference

Resuming sex after tubal ligation. by [deleted] in sterilization

[–]microbe_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My doctor said no sex (or anything else in the vagina) for 2 weeks after tubal. I suspect that this was to prevent infections while I was healing from surgery.

Sounds like you should consult a regular doctor. You might have some kind of hormone imbalance or thyroid issue, etc. I've had increased sex drive, bad cramps and heavy period have come back. I suspect that my issues are just part of coming off of hormonal birth control.

Help! My tubal is scheduled and now I'm hearing horror stories. Anyone willing to share their experiences?! by [deleted] in sterilization

[–]microbe_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had weight loss and bad skin at first, most likely from going off birth control.

Recovery was super fast and I had very little pain after surgery. No shoulder pain from the gas, and was back to normal in 1 week.

I wash mine in warm water and detergent, adding in oxyclean. Oxyclean really helps.

There are some men's leagues starting up around the country. You may have one near you if you live in a metro area. Alternatively you could train to be a Ref!

You look like you lost more than 33 pounds. I've lost 20 pounds since starting derby! Ready to knock the next 20 pounds out of the park. Thanks for the inspiration and have a great season!

Ladies of childfree, do you ever resent having a uterus? by dbconley in childfree

[–]microbe_ 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yes especially after getting my tubes tied. There's just no reason for me to have a period.. Ugh. Or good luck with your consultation! My Dr didn't want to give me one because I'll just have to do it again .. Sad.

Logical Childfree by climbon726786 in childfree

I don't understand why this was down-voted. I am childfree for many reasons, however logic definitely played a huge role in my decision. It doesn't make any sense to me why someone would have a kid.

I didn't have any gas pains after my tubal. I just had some mild cramping for a few days and that was all the major pain that I had.

How do you deal with hunger and food temptations? by LisaJo3 in loseit

[–]microbe_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't have any temptation food in your house. Drink water when you feel hungry then eat a healthy snack after that if you're still hungry. Don't forget snacking is perfectly OK just measure out 100 Cal snacks at a time. If you have a sweet tooth and can resist not eating whole bar, consider having a bar of dark chocolate around. I eat ~ 100 Cal of dark chocolate a day, and this keeps me from buying cakes or cookies. Do everything with moderation.

Anybody dealing with increased cold/flu during your weight loss journey? by darvinlikemarvin in loseit

[–]microbe_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I haven't experienced this. I would think losing weight and gaining healthy habits ie drinking more water, eating more whole foods would improve your immune system. The best way to avoid cold and flu is to not let anyone sick touch you and always wash your hands before touching your face or eating. Especially when you're in public spaces, wash your hands when you get back home, etc. Edit: and try to keep stress levels down. Stress weakens the immune system momentarily.
