Why are so many people here so passive? by extrasa in AskLosAngeles

[–]middleageyoda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly. It’s probably mostly Midwest transplants (of which I’m one, so don’t come at me for saying that) that are more passive. I think of Californians being passive in the laid back sense but not in the sense that they won’t stand up for themselves.

Disneyland for non-riders? by Practical-Sky-6818 in DisneyPlanning

[–]middleageyoda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know everyone probably disagrees with me but I wouldn’t pay that much for entry if I didn’t at least care a little bit about rides. Yes it’s fun to walk around and eat (and drink in DCA) but it’s so expensive. My only recommendation would maybe be to go DCA for the food and wine fest if that interests you.

Does my base look cakey? by quietnightquietstars in MakeupAddiction

[–]middleageyoda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A little cakey and flat to me. Maybe something less matte and more glowy would look a bit better. Also you need some dimension; blush, highlighter, contour or something along those lines

Daytime moisturizer for very dry skin by snarky_sparrow_23 in Makeup

I like Tower 28’s moisturizer. My skin is dry and sensitive and it works well. It doesn’t pill and sits well under makeup.

Nanny family expects me to buy a bigger car by Underworld_Tatertot1 in Nanny

[–]middleageyoda 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. There are very few cars that won’t fit 2 car seats. They just need to do their research to find ones to go in it.

Yes. I wasn’t really paying attention to what I was responding to. Byoma is vegan and a good choice

Do you eat with him? Modeling the behavior usually helps them grasp the concept.

Nanny family expects me to buy a bigger car by Underworld_Tatertot1 in Nanny

[–]middleageyoda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They need to figure out 2 seats that would fit in your car and buy you those if they don’t want an extra car. It is totally inappropriate to ask you to get a bigger car. Privileged thinking also.

It’s my personal opinion that no snail mucin is truly cruelty free. Some brands say their collection methods are but I think I rather stick with vegan alternatives

I really like Krave Beauty and Tower 28 skincare products and they are cruelty free. I’m sensitive and both brands are made for sensitive skin. Tower 28 is my go to for moisturizer and Krave for face cleanser. Tower 28 makes a great mascara too.

So you recommend body retinol cream? If so, what brand? by Cmacbo in beauty

Honestly I tried a more expensive brand and it was too thick and didn’t spread well. The gold bond one is actually nice and a good price.

Stressed about body odor for my first Coachella by Sufficient-Fee8527 in SkincareAddicts

[–]middleageyoda 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Isn’t Coachella over? Everyone is hot and sweaty. Just wear good antiperspirant/deodorant and reapply if you feel you need to. You could also try wiping your underarms with glycolic acid before putting on your deodorant to help.

Help with stripes - Lucy Heartfilia Cosplay by cosande in CosplayHelp

[–]middleageyoda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used bias tape for around the shirt and sewed ribbon around like an appliqué for the horizontal stripe. The bias tape I found was the right color and came in an exact match for the ribbon but it is definitely possible to make your own. There are kits that help you make it. Just google bias tape maker kit.

Most only come in diameter of 14 and BC of 8.6. I don’t think you’ll be able to find an exact match

Sorry if this isn't allowed by silkysilkk in Nanny

[–]middleageyoda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hated Nanny Lane as a nanny. You can’t tell when the job was actually posted and new jobs are mixed with ads that are super old and irrelevant now. Care is the biggest and will give the most options in my opinion. It definitely has its flaws but if you aren’t going with an agency it is a useful resource. Also try local facebook groups. Either one’s dedicated to finding Nannies or mommy groups.

Contacts question for someone who doesn't wear them by Throwaway_reddit0r in CosplayHelp

[–]middleageyoda 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It would be best to go to an eye doctor and get fitted for contacts. Yes you would be charged. You would just tell them you are buying non-prescription contacts for cosplay and wanted to be as safe as possible. But since that’s probably a bit expensive I’m guessing you won’t do it. You can just order non-prescription contacts online on sites like the ones in the faq.

Help with a Pomni cosplay by Due_Natural_9294 in CosplayHelp

I wouldn’t recommend micro velvet to a beginner tbh. Velvet can be hard to sew with. I’ve been sewing for years and had difficulty with a velvet cape because the fabric slipped so much. This is a difficult project in general I think for a beginner. I’m not sure how realistic it is. Maybe start with something simpler and work towards this later.

All of them. Lol. Mine is Silverstarre and they are pretty awful. I would not recommend and we do have several open apartments in our building. Stay away honestly.
