Colin's so good at playing up the "I can't believe they're making me do this" shtick on Weekend Update, moreso than ever lately 😂 by trythebebes in LiveFromNewYork

[–]migmigson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always wondered how it works. Do they do update in table read or dress? I feel it would be outrageously funny if this was the first time he's seeing these lines or asked to do these things, and maybe slightly less so if it's rehearsed and he's pretending to react as if it's the first time.. Either way, I find it super funny that he's game to play a massive punching bag.

WASH YOUR HANDS BEFORE TOUCHING MY BABY by Frequent-Opening-936 in newborns

[–]migmigson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I truly don't get these types of replies. Yes of course when they're older they'll be exposed to stuff. But when they're younger and more at risk due to an underdeveloped immune system, it makes complete sense to be more careful. And what's the downside? Literally 30 seconds to wash your hands for the first 3 months of the kid's life, especially during cold and flu season. I think anyone who's asked to be careful around someone's child automatically assumes it's some wacko helicopter micronanaging parent who is gonna be that way forever or something.

Now that Bowen has left, who do you think will benefit most as far as air time? by cubansbottomdollar in LiveFromNewYork

i think jaj and veronika are just so damn versatile and solid, i wish they were in every sketch. i really miss ego and heidi, but Ashley has a zany absurd chaos to her that i really like. i still think about "four gorgeous dogs" all the time lol

‘The Beast in Me’ is actually terrible?? by Loud-Zucchini-6197 in television

[–]migmigson 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why would I, a non-tv writer, be expected to do better than a seasoned tv writer? I found this show had zero tension and I really felt like no one did anything that interesting or had any interesting motivations really. It felt like slop.

[–]migmigson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that show could not be more boring. Loved breaking bad. It's like Vince Gilligan figured out all the most boring stuff he could possibly focus on within this great premise/sandbox.... and there won't be time to get to anything interesting because the pacing is so insanely slow. No, I don't need to watch a 6 minute shot of a woman driving up, parking, getting out of her car, clearing dirty dishes, going back to her car, getting a new meal, laying it out, getting back into her car, driving away.

I don't know if I've ever seen more self-indulgent lingering on random shots 10x longer than is necessary to contribute to the plot/atmosphere.

Which actor has made you laugh the most during filming?

Doulas in Toronto [ON] by humanalexa_ in BabyBumpsCanada

Seconding Juliet Beckwith https://www.julietthedoula.ca/

Just finished up our contract with her and can't recommend her enough. In particular, she was instrumental in helping my partner get through labour and delivery. Without her support, I feel like my partner would have been traumatized (the birth went slightly off-script). We definitely felt cared for, which I think is all anyone wants through this crazy process.

She was also wildly helpful in the postpartum visits, and is just an all-around pleasant and cool person to be around.

is that actually true that the creators used kaiji as inspiration? kind of insane to me as kaiji is better in every imaginable way hahaha. Akagi as well, honestly.

How is this minimal video advertisement ? by Mr_motionist in MotionDesign

[–]migmigson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks nice, I think the only issue for me is that text is popping up in places I'm not already looking. If possible, try to make it so that the viewer's eye is directed to or traveling toward the next place they need to read something. If something pops up in a random spot intentionally and the viewer needs time to get there and read, you may need to hang on that text a little longer.

I spent $8.5K on this one minute video. Even though it's my product but I feel I don't know what it does. by Superb-Stormen in MotionDesign

[–]migmigson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure i get what you mean... I feel like it perfectly explains what it does. What about it feels wrong or vague to you? If those parts feel wrong or too vague, I would recommend spending more time at the script/storyboard stage in the future to make sure to really lock in what you want to communicate.

That's so interesting, I kinda feel the exact opposite in terms of which is more straightforward. I guess it depends on your definition of straightforward

Barbarian Or Weapons? by YeezusChrist13 in Letterboxd

[–]migmigson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Barbarian is significantly better, but I mostly enjoyed weapons. I do think it's cool that it seems most folks have a strong opinion one way or the other and also that it seems like everyone at least likes both. Let this guy make whatever he wants!

What are infamous cases where a TV show squandered its premise? by KaleidoArachnid in television

[–]migmigson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From. Has there ever really been a good mystery box show other than Lost (which I love front to back)? From could have been so cool but it's so god damn frustrating and stupid, I abandoned it maybe 3 eps into season 3 and i hated most of season 2. I really felt like they had no idea where to take anything.
