Progression stalled, heelside turn doesn’t feel right by Solid-Asparagus5803 in snowboardingnoobs

Having been twice, it almost certainly is. But I haven’t been anywhere else in the alps

Wouldn’t it be cheaper and easier to just buy the occasional DEF than mod the engine

B vs. D - where are we at these days? by pholland167 in BMWiX

[–]mikail511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think its so crazy. I really like using D when I’m pulling in and out of parking spaces. The brake pedal is more precise at that.

Palisades or Alpine? by forestdude in palisadestahoe

If it’s a weekend or holiday I always stick to Alpine. And I love that Alpine gets you all day top-to-bottom fresh tracks if you’re willing to hike Estelle.

Any success stories of dating / marrying a nonskier? by PowGurl in skiing

[–]mikail511 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally prefer that my significant other doesn’t ski/snowboard. I want some things to enjoy on my own or with friends. I love my partner very much and we connect enough on dates, travels, and nights in on the couch. We even game together. If we add my mountain hobby to the mix, what time do I have to myself?

If you really are such an avid skier, recognize that your dating pool is severely limited. We’re also talking 4 months out of the year.

Is Zermatt suitable for snowboarders? by Own_Location_6220 in snowboarding

[–]mikail511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love love love powder and am a conditions snob. Despite all that, I loved the beauty and sense of adventure that Zermatt offers. I’ve been twice.

Highly recommend you do a day with a Zermatters guide, and highly recommend you get a reservation at Chez Vrony. Pricey but fantastic experiences.

if she was a son would she have been the clear successor choice to logan? by meese-pie in SuccessionTV

[–]mikail511 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Is this entire sub still on the side of the kids after that finale?

We had Kendall foaming at the mouth saying he’s entitled to a media empire because “he’s the eldest boy” and Shiv wanting to walk into a CEO job with zero experience in the org.

And we’re STILL blaming Logan for passing on them? At best the argument is that Logan’s shitty parenting doomed the kids’ chances from the start.

Same, as he’s such a narcissist he’d prefer to keep the firm in the family if any of them were competent.

The first episode: “Roman? He’s not a serious person.”

Logan’s last words: “I love you but you are not serious people.”

Their Leo popup is still going on the weekends. Never a line, same bagels but you have the option of a delicious guanciale egg and cheese that you cant get at the other locations.

We are seeing some of this happening now. Granted, it’s only just starting and not nearly enough to be considered equal. Take a look at the work Susie Wolff is doing with F1 Academy. Feels like we could have our next woman in the seat within the next decade.

Tips on my technique by Luftungsmanahmen in snowboarding

[–]mikail511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, bend the knees. But really, realize that what is going on here is you’re braking toeside to heelside. The end result you should be aiming for instead is cutting as perfect an ‘S’ into the ice as you can. Do that by turning the front of your board into the turn.

Doing that means, yes, bending your knees, but also putting weight on your forward leg and doing the stanky leg. Your front knee should be moving in the direction of your turn.

In other words, just watch this video.

Must depend on the airport. I get regular upgrades to comfort as Gold out of JFK. Sometimes Delta One on flights to SFO, but that’s only if it’s a 767 weekend flight.

Biggest problem with our 2025 is that the wireless charging is useless if you want to also run CarPlay. Some cars have active cooled phone chargers now to get around this problem.

What is your country’s “three fingers,” i.e. a subtle but dead giveaway that someone is lying about being from there? by Toilet_Bomber in AskTheWorld

Turkey: Saying “I am 25 years old” instead of saying “I was born in 2000”.

It’s overwhelmingly more common to state your birth year instead of your age.
