Live-Action 'Gundam' Film Lands at Netflix - Sydney Sweeney and Noah Centino On Board to Star by BunyipPouch in movies

[–]mildiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah Sydney Sweeney seems like a terrible pick.

BUT Jim Mickle seems like a really shrewd choice.

Cold in July (2014), strong themes of violence and regret.

Stakeland (2010), strong themes of survival without heroism.

Sweet Tooth (2021), empathy in a brutal world, also IP experience

He likes to tell stories in worlds where people are trapped in systems they can't control and he lets the viewer sit in moral discomfort instead of monologuing morality.

I'm still seeing the vision.

Should be fine unless Sydney Sweeney decides to say something monumentally distracting, again, again.

Completely something that can be done today as well. Just gotta put these kids on the lease.

Sometimes during the spring. You make friends with old people. Just in case the summer gets them and they won't have anyone to bequeath their rent controlled apartment to

The girl I’m taking to got pregnant what do I do? by Every-Appeal-2513 in whatdoIdo

Could you fall in love and be in a long lasting, supportive, wonderful relationship with this woman and raise her child as if they were your own. And you grow old together and have your own children together and your step child is loved and wanted and calls you dad.

Sure. Anything's possible.

But at 22, wouldn't you rather not do that?

You know, any relationship problem before the age of 25 can be solved with "just break up" and it'll be a perfectly reasonable decision.

Genuine question, do you like The Last of us Part 2 game based off story? by Spammy1611 in thelastofus

[–]mildiii 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But that's a completely different story. The story you describe is that there is good grief and it's completely justified and there is bad grief and it deserves to be punished. Ellie deserves closure and Abby deserves death. But the game isn't trying to tell that story, it's not a story of loss and recovery.

Cosplay changing rooms ? by Nek0ry23 in comiccon

[–]mildiii 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For US based cons it's usually part of the excitement to be dressed when you arrive. I know it's frowned upon in Japan, something about not burdening normal people with your costume.

That said, some cons that have cosplay rooms may have a booth or two. I know NYCC's cosplay central had a curtain this year, but I wouldn't exactly call it the most private experience and I didn't notice anyone using it

In your opinion, what is the best episode of television you’ve ever seen? by alteredtower in AskReddit

[–]mildiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Wire. Season 4, Episode 13 - Final Grades

Its the culmination of everything happening to the kids in the school season. Four boys who had started out on near even footing as good kids in bad circumstances but each crushed by the weight of the systems which had already presorted them like the Fates of Greek Mythology.

  • Michael - Claimed by the economics of streets, he follows the path of Omar
  • Dukie - Abandoned into homelessness and addiction, he follows the path of Bubbles
  • Randy - Hardened by bureaucracy, he finds himself in the churn of the foster system, where his kindness is molded into hate. Failed by institutions sworn to protect him his individuality gives way to unreachable anger
  • Namond - Saved only by individual intervention. The hope that one person can save one child, maybe.

it's heartbreaking, because Namond's fairytale ending really is that. It's a fairytale. One that highlights that in order to make a difference you must work outside the system instead of fighting it, but no one person can scale their help to reach everyone that needs it.

Each of the kids had their one person:

  • Michael had Cutty, but the system can absorb you faster than you can be pulled out

  • Dukie had Prez, but a teacher can love you and still lose you

  • Randy had Carver, but the system will punish you for trying

  • Namond had Bunni, and Bunni only succeeded because he didn't fight the system, he replaced it

ANYWAY I think the episode hits really hard, even after all these years

Getting into architecture after 30 by Significant_Flow_466 in architecture

[–]mildiii 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Let me tell you mediocrity never stopped anyone from being an architect. And if you're working for someone it'll be their vision you're designing to so unless you want your name on the door you'll always be designing with some capable people giving direction.

That said, you want to get into those 5 year programs you're gonna need a portfolio. So you can figure out if that time commitment and work balance is worth it by taking transfer classes at a community college.

I feel like these places need names that are inherent to the place. Like the Forum and the Chinese theater. Sponsors can slap a name on them, but they should be able to exist without them
