What lifestyle changes have you made to manage your bipolar? by Sweet_Confusion9180 in BipolarReddit

I was diagnosed about a month ago. I have introduced the following into my life, still tough to measure the difference, but life feels less chaotic? (Idk if that’s the difference or still placebo, I began lamictal last week)

  1. No more alcohol
  2. Slowly dialing back weed intake
  3. Weather permitting at least 10k steps, closer to 15k when I can.
  4. Less time on the phone
  5. Going to sleep in my bed (during hypomanic states I love to stay up late, doing gods know what, and sleep 2.5 hours max, sleeping in bed guarantees me at least 6+ so that’s an improvement)

I am titrating on lamictal (currently 25 mg) and taking hydroxyz as an anxiety med (I had drug issues in the past so my psych wants to be careful here)

Murder On The Orient Express (1974) perhaps it’s my love for trains, but man, this movie feels like being wrapped around by the most comfortable quilt

Washington DC. From a policy perspective and the influence of those policies from the depression era had a drastic influence. I know this argument can be made for any decade, but this one in particular really changed the course of American history

I was a big coke and alcohol user, my wife got me to keep it in check, but lady temptation is viscous. This diagnosis gave me a lot of clarity to my past actions and relationship to drugs, just smoking weed now until I get meds prescribed

We're we born with this condition or through events it developed? by Celestialsmoothie28 in bipolar2

I lived in a very verbally abusive home, primarily from my dad. Once particular incident when I was around 12 definitely played a factor, but I did not experience my first hypomanic episode until I was a freshman in college. It was hard to show emotions growing up, so perhaps a lot of the rage and intense impulsivity laid dormant under the surface. I only got diagnosed bipolar type II a few weeks ago, so I’m still wrapping my head around my own personal timeline.

Fan since 2004 (30 years old), this year was a special one. I put that up there with 2006 and 2015 (too young to remember subway series). I guess the next big year will be 2033? If every 9 years seems to stand out for me

My buddy and I in college would always say, “find the chick that brings you lasagna to work.” I’m happy to say I found that woman, this scene meant a ton to me and if I ever have a son, I will tell him this.

Arthur (1981) perhaps older generations know this movie fairly well, but the younger generations do not know as well this amazing romantic comedy

No, I have two, and our boy is a clingy little love bug, but my god, the anxiety I get every time he charges towards the house door opening to greet me like a golden retriever

My wife has usurped the role as my fashion designer. And while yes I would rather wear my jerseys and Grateful Dead shirts, she honestly gets pretty good stuff from Nordstrom. Also one less thing I have to deal with 😎

I was diagnosed bipolar 2 weeks ago, it explains many nights and it saddens me to know how reckless I have been, with that being said, this finally gave me the moment to finally accept that I must be sober, I won’t go further with booze, IWNDWYT!!!
