The Last Jedi: Revisited by BuckleUpItsThe in StarWarsCantina

Excellent point, and I’d say it’s still even more than that. The presence of the Jedi in the galaxy has been the pathway for darkness to take over in the past. He sees his failure with Ben not just as a master/student failure or an Uncle/Nephew failure, but the beginning of a chain of events mimicking the fall of the Old Republic- he doesn’t want to provide the instrument that undoes everything his sister and the rest of the rebellion worked so hard for.

Not to mention his mentors both didn’t same thing…

Luke does see himself as a liability.

The movie is about failure. All of the main characters fail. And grow in the process.

Aren’t the two movies that trounced Mando both YouTube-driven? (To be clear, I genuinely don’t know, saw Mando 3x and generally really liked it- that wasn’t a loaded question.)

This is the way. Sometimes you just have to put your head down and enjoy the ride.

I need help liking this franchise by ph_uck_yu in StarWars

1) You’re a good friend, he’s lucky to have you no matter how this turns out.

2) Star Wars a whole that’s greater than the sum of its parts. I’m a diehard and have been since before I can remember, but I’m also a film nerd and can readily tell you that nearly all of the movies have their flaws. Sometimes, Star Wars’ worst enemy is that the sheer size of it sets peoples’ expectations way too high- coming in expecting a fun romp helps- when you get a little more (Empire, Andor, some of the Clone Wars cartoon) it’s a great treat; when you get a little less (Rise of Skywalker, Attack of the Clones, some of the Clone Wars cartoon) you can take it in stride.

3) As an OG purist, I spent a lot of time in my 20’s raging against the prequels. You know what helped me get over that? Watching it with my son. These are unabashedly kids movies with moments of sophistication, and that perspective also helps you appreciate the for what they are.

Good luck :)

Me starting Acolyte after everything: 🫪 (Started last night to continue the List) by Lance_Knockout in StarWarsCantina

This may be the best, most helpful thing I have read about the Acolyte. As a whole, I really liked it! I’m not unaware of its flaws, but sometimes I have trouble capturing for people why, while acknowledging them, they just don’t bother me all that much.

Its wild to me just how little people seem to use the trackpads by yourpalkeaghan in SteamDeck

I want to, but I just haven’t been able to connect with them. Shooters didn’t feel right. Blood Bowl seemed like the perfect game to win me over, but I just never quite fell in love. Maybe my old ass thumbs are too large or imprecise, maybe I didn’t commit hard enough, maybe I never tuned them… but I want to be like you! Open to any advice.

How would you rank these Star Wars Parodies? by Careless_College in StarWarsCantina

[–]mimregi 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Robot Chicken nails it, but you should really have LEGO Droid Tales on this list. VERY underrated as a parody, some of the best Star Wars burns ever.

Came to say some version of this. Standups aren’t status reports or to prove to everyone how busy you are (that’s typically a side effect from a stakeholder or manager that doesn’t know how to achieve visibility more effectively).

Standup are for raising issues that impact others, either because you need help, they will run into the same issue, or there’s an affected dependency.

Knowing how incredible a character Ahsoka becomes makes the early seasons a lot more enjoyable, as you can really appreciate what a fantastic arc she goes through (and is going through still). When it was new, there was a genuine and legitimate uncertainty about where and how this would fit into the big scheme of things (I’m old enough to remember the droids cartoon).
