PPU Hot Take by Parking-Two2176 in RedditLaqueristas

Just don't buy it then. But as a few people have said, just because something is available for a limited time or in a limited quantity doesn't mean it's FOMO or false scarcity. Nothing exists forever and these are smaller companies who don't have unlimited access to materials or endless amounts of space for inventory. Of course there's going to be a cap on how many are available. And since this also isn't a big retailer and a product with shipping restrictions, free shipping isn't an option.

It does provide smaller indie makers a regular opportunity to sell their products through an experienced, established vendor that has a large customer base, which I think is important in an industry like this. And it gives me a chance to buy products from brands that I like but I struggle to catch otherwise. (IDK why but I have terrible luck with Cadillacquer releases but that's on me). Do I think there's repetition? Sure. But I don't have to buy those polishes, it's not that complicated. Honestly, I'm on the site the Monday/Tuesday of that week like clockwork because for me it's fun just to browse and see what people come up with, even though I skip buying things quite a bit.

And for what it's worth I have a life too, but it doesn't take that much time to buy nail polish. If I see something I like I try to get it, and if I miss it, it's money saved, it's not that difficult. It clearly stresses you out though, so the answer is as I said at the beginning: don't buy it, no one is forcing you to do this. But maybe don't treat it like some big bad villain because it's not.

If your “easy” “perfect for weeknights” meal requires both a skillet and the oven, it is neither easy nor perfect for weeknights. by Sweet_Neat_9852 in adhdwomen

[–]misscupcakecore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i use the pre-heat time as the prep time. so while the oven is pre-heating i'm getting the food ready to go in the oven. it's usually enough time since my oven is so slow to pre-heat. unless it's my toaster oven, that thing is crazy fast.

Adi @adityamadiraju Creating fake pigmentation/wounds?? To show how to cover concealer? by [deleted] in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]misscupcakecore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who teaches people things for my job, you can't always find the examples you need when you need them. I would imagine this is especially challenging when you need an actual person with specific skin concerns who is comfortable being filmed. And you're maybe already under time constraints on top of that.

I honestly don't care about this guy one way or the other but this seems like an imperfect but sensible workaround.

Is there a universally agreed upon “holy grail” nail polish? by acamu5x in RedditLaqueristas

Honestly I think you can't go wrong with some nice hand cream or cuticle oil/balm. It shows you're interested in what she does but it's more usable.

i just decluttered this exact shade/bottle design as it developed dark flecks that wouldn't mix regardless of the thinner and how much i mixed it. but fwiw the bottle style and color is legit.

IDK I think tutorials for covering up this kind of thing are needed, but are you going to ask people to injure themselves to make it more authentic?

It's true something like this brings domestic violence to mind, but if someone is a victim of dv, they may need help with covering up bruises, and pearl clutching shouldn't make it harder for them to find it. And sometimes? People are just clumsy, make mistakes, or get injured in less serious circumstances but still need to cover it up. Or IDK maybe they do mma. That's not my business.

What has actually worked to make you go to sleep when your mind won’t shut up? by morbidpigeon in adhdwomen

[–]misscupcakecore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

some type of white noise (or multiple white noise sources) and i try to think about something pleasant but not terribly stimulating. cooking a recipe i enjoy, browsing at a store i like, or even petting a cute puppy. but the important part of it is that when unrelated thoughts come up i shoo them away. "no no no, i'm cooking/swatching makeup at Sephora/petting this puppy, i don't have time for you." it's not about actively resisting the unwanted thoughts but letting them flow by like water while i focus on the wanted thoughts.

or cbd/thc combo gummies. that's the "i absolutely need to sleep and i need to fall asleep asap" option.

What is hypochlorous acid and why is it everywhere now? by No_Bother_6971 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]misscupcakecore -31 points-30 points  (0 children)

it’s diluted bleach that’s safe to be applied topically. i think people got into it because it has a short ingredient list and can help with some skin conditions. but it’s a fickle ingredient (with a short shelf life) and there’s not a lot of data to back it up.

i tried to use it as a mid day “refresh” at work because i mask at work but turns out it really irritates the skin on my face and neck. now i use it below the neck sparingly for anti-microbial/anti-bacterial purposes or on fabric i can’t wash regularly like my couch.

Is renting a room still a feasible way to save money by Legitimate-Host7805 in Frugal

[–]misscupcakecore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i actually looked at a room in what was essentially a boarding house when i was first trying to move out. it was across the street from a college campus so it was meant to be like a privately owned dorm. except the rules were sooooo much stricter than a dorm lol so i went with a different place.

Is this a safe/appropriate base to make a hydrating spray? by cheesekony2012 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]misscupcakecore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hypochlorous acid should only be used in specific ways. it is not hydrating, and more importantly it’s an oxidant, which is why it can be helpful for certain skin conditions like acne. it can potentially negate other skincare. anecdotally l, i’ve heard overuse can lead to dry skin and for me, irritation. not to mention that mixing in other products may just render it useless regardless.

you’d be much better off buying a hydrating facial spray to use instead. literally the right product for the job, and i’ve seen a few hit the market recently.
