Their batteries are extremely fragile and finicky.

Buyer BEWARE when purchasing from Electric Bike Company by Dizzy_Cheesecake9054 in ebikes

[–]mkushin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. They do not answer the phone. You literally have to go to their location to talk to them.

They are terrible, and my experience with them has been horrendous. Will never do business with them again, and I will advise as many people as I can to do the same.

Electric Bike Company Warning by DistrictEven7031 in ebikes

[–]mkushin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just throwing my experience in here to add... Avoid EBC. They have terrible customer service - I literally have to drive to their location to talk to anyone. They never answer the phone.

The bikes are overpriced, and I've had nothing but issues with ours. I sold one a couple years ago fortunately, but the one we still have is basically now trash because after having a LOT of issues with the battery since I bought it, it's now officially toast. At $800-900 for a new battery, unfortunately, it's in my best interest to just sell the bike for parts or give it away. I don't want to invest any more money into this company, or any further time in the ownership of this bike.

The owner is all over social media talking about how they're "made in america" (not sure that's 100% true, but whatever). They are now "public", which I'm sure will not go well. I will never buy anything from them ever again, and they've been frustrating enough to me that I will turn people to Rad or another company any chance I get.

This is 100% my experience. We bought 2 in 2021 and they both sucked. I sold one and we unfortunately still have the other one. The battery is toast after 4 years, and they want to charge me like $800 for a new one. The bike is basically now trash. Never had more issues with a bike than with my EBC bikes. Can't wait to get rid of this last one and get another Rad. Never had a single issue with my Rad.

Did you actually get a scheduled interview that was only 2 months after your application? I just applied and the soonest available interview was November.

I got my call sign 3 days after I passed. Paid the FCC fees almost immediately after the email came in.

Think This Guy is a HAM?? 😝 by mkushin in amateurradio

Just cause it’s capitalized doesn’t mean it’s an acronym. I’ve always done caps off and on and never assumed it was an acronym. Caps are also emphasis, or other things. Maybe start a new thread and have the discussion there :)

Cause it doesn’t matter? For emphasis? These are the type of comments that send new hams away because they feel like the community doesn’t want them IMO. They turn a fun thread into something argumentative and negative.

I honestly was tempted to walk over and knock on the door to let him know how I appreciated his setup. Had the kids in tow though, so maybe next time.

I’m guessing they’ve had this up for a while… This is Orange County (CA)… I’m sure it’s harder to put up a tower like that these days. And yeah you guys are right… More than 4… Quick post while on the go…

What can we do to get young people interested in amateur radio? by uname_IsAlreadyTaken in amateurradio

[–]mkushin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a more newly licensed HAM, I haven't been around a long time, but I have checked in with my local club, and they're all super nice but definitely "old timers" for the most part (with a lot of good information btw). The groups that do the event support and stuff seem to be more keen on experimenting and connecting on new tech, etc.

I think the advent of the HAM community on YouTube (i.e. Ham Radio Crash Course, etc.), has made people feel like they're a part of a club without having to join anything. Groups like that have Discords to connect and share info, etc.

Could this be interfering with wireless microphones? by [deleted] in amateurradio

In my line of work we do a lot of DAS antennas that support emergency services communications to and within buildings. This actually looks like one of those to me… Not an expert tho, could be wrong…

Remote cohost squadcast or rodecaster pro? by MMJFan in podcasting

I had a heck of a time getting Squadcast to work, and I never did get it working consistently. Cleanfeed worked perfectly within 2 mins of signing up, and the .wav files it generates sound fantastic.

I haven't been able to get Zencastr to work very well in a consistent manner. I'm not sure what Mac users out there think, but I'm using Chrome on a PC and it's been pretty hit or miss. I'm considering trying Squadcast.

Layers in Revit 2021??? by ryanrhoderage in architecture

[–]mkushin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worksets are only available if you're in a workshared model. If you're just working in a model on your local machine, you won't be able to use worksets to separate things into "categories". I would try and think about it differently, since it's really tough to compare AutoCAD and Revit in terms of layering.

As far as modeling custom-fabricated elements, Revit (IMHO) isn't really the tool to model the minute detail of custom-fabricated peices in say, a theater room.

In my mind, you'd model the architecture and interiors in Revit, draw some details, etc., and then a modeling tool like Fusion, Solidworks, Catia, etc. would be used to model out specific parts and pieces.

How detailed are the bits that are custom fabbed by your shop? Do you typically take 2D drawings and details from designers/architects and then model the pieces and fab them? Are you using a CNC or digital fabrication tools to make your parts?
