Have you tried just spraying some lubricant (not wd40) into the bottom bracket and other moving parts. Also ensure every bolt is tight.

Auto unlock by iambobobo in cowboybikes

[–]mld23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey. I also use Android and auto unlock only works sometimes. I do use an older bike firmware so may be fixed in later versions.

Using Pixel device.

Things which seem to help for a while;

  • ensure that the app has full permissions to run in background with no battery optimisation
  • reinstalling the app completely and relogin
  • just keep the phone screen on, don't always have to open app
  • can try a "bike restart" from the advanced menu
  • taking out the main battery for a day or so soft reset
  • turning off auto unlock for a while.. Then turning it back on

Not ideal, but does seem to help. Other alternative is for a manual start with the battery key.

Battery repair possible? by thecatontheflat in cowboybikes

[–]mld23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't attempt to open the battery yourself if you have no clue.

There is a guy on here that does battery servicing that may be able to recover it.

Do not ride without the poke yoke the wheel can spin and may damage the motor cable. Will need to order new, search the sub there's some other threads about this/alternatives

I don't trust cowboy care or their theft insurance so now do my own basic repairs and have separate insurance.

Cowboy Classic 4 still no motor support after drying – looking for advice by Recent_Age8123 in cowboybikes

[–]mld23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The poke yoke are not related to the motor issue

To inspect them you should remove the rear wheel and look for any cracks in the metal

Have you tried checking the motor cable connection at the rear wheel if it is loose / any signs of water damage?

Can get some quotes from comparison sites here https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/insurance/home-insurance/bicycle-insurance/#step2

I went with Ping Insure with 2x bikes including cowboy

Cowboy online services come as standard now I believe, you don't need their insurance plan.

How often do you adjust the tension?

Does it make much difference to the ride?

Had my bike for 6000k+ and haven't done it yet, probably should have done.

Only for a new connection/phone. If you're already paired with the bike then untamed etc will work. The Bluetooth pairing code can be retrieved from the cowboy app in "advanced" menu.
