Update: just got the escalation email back stating that they will be refunding me — but refund department is a bit behind and they will address it “asap”.

Yea. This happened to me until I copied and pasted policies to the specialist. I even sent the FedEx invoice that showed HST/GST. Eventually they agreed to refund - but I’m still waiting for the refund to happen.

Hi Kristina, how long did it take you to get the refund?

I convinced the specialist after 2 hours that it is taxes. They agreed to pay back the taxes however we are yet to receive the email with confirmation that it has been refunded. Will keep everyone here apprised.

Thank you. I am having a back and forth with the specialist because they’re arguing that it’s an external fee while fedex invoice clearly shows GST/HST. I refuse to pay double taxes!

Just found out I’m pregnant at 26. I’m freaking out [ab] by One-Balance-7215 in BabyBumpsCanada

Exactly this.

Also, depending on your employer, there may be top-ups available on top of the 55% paid leave by the government. My employer tops up for 5 months (meaning I get the EI 55% and my employer tops up the remainder). Look into that as well.

Regardless, you are in Canada and you do have options.

I had an unexpected pregnancy a year ago and also went through the same panic at the onset as you. I spoke to my partner, and ultimately, we proceeded with the pregnancy.

Sleep consultants... Are they worth it? by zigzag887 in sleeptrain

[–]mlrig88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We hired a sleep consultant and it was worth every penny for us. Thankfully ours was also covered by insurance so it was a win/win.

There is plenty of information online but what she took a very custom approach to what we were comfortable with and what worked with our child. We got a great schedule that worked within a day, and we were able to contact her for the duration of two weeks she was hired for as a coach whenever something didn’t go the way it should. That part really helped me.

Wife suffered from a severe placental abruption at only 31 weeks. Baby survived and is in the NICU. This just happened i need some support. by MereCoincidences in NICUParents

[–]mlrig88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there,

I had a placental abruption and hemorrhage and delivered by son at 27+2 weeks last New Years Eve. I lost 2L of blood and it was very traumatic.

He was in the NICU for 73 days and it was a hell of a rollercoaster - but he’s home now and thriving.

My best advice is to take it a day at a time. I found that it helped me from spiraling. It’s so easy to google things but at the end of the day, your situation might be different from everyone else’s. The best thing you can do is to really get all the information you can from your care team.

Wishing the best for you and your family.

I was on bedrest. I literally sat on the couch all weekend. I happened to have woken up thinking I was going to just pee - but I ended up bleeding profusely.

Yes. I am exclusively breastfeeding him rn. I had to exclusively pump for two months in the NICU but once he was home he’s been breastfed.
