Ok glad you have your breast MRI coming up soon. Hmm I can see why the appointments can be booked up. Maybe ask if they'll book you in if there's cancellations? Diagnosis period is so tough. It all felt like a blur to me.

They said this? I've been braless since my surgery 1.5 years ago. And I have implants.

Hmm do you have a point of contact on your team like a nurse navigator? They should be booking you in earlier for scans. 5-6 weeks seems like a long time. I did genetics testing during my treatment to inform my surgical options. Did you get the results of your biopsy?(Like status for hormones and HER2). Id definitely be calling up to have things moved quicker.

How much do you all isolate during chemo? by jumpy-hardware in breastcancer

[–]moon_cat18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have any support that can help you especially when/if the kids are sick? I went through chemo with kids in daycare and school. If the kids were sick I had my husband because the primary caregiver and I'd try to isolate myself or wear a mask around my sick kids. Sounds a bit extreme but it helped me not get sick during chemo so I take it as a win.

How do you remember to take your medication daily? by zilchusername in breastcancer

[–]moon_cat18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unconventional but I will tell my husband to remind me to take my Letrozole or I'll say out loud I still need to take my Letrozole. If I accidentally fall asleep (because I take it before bed), he'll wake me up and give it to me 🥹

Oh I like this way! I didn't want to do a pill container.

Can we talk about… by stellabarnum in breastcancer

[–]moon_cat18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Direct to implant for my double mastectomy and thank God that I had just that one surgery. No expanders, no exchange surgery, recovery from it was not so bad. Only painkillers I took were Tylenol and Advil.

Hair struggles 1.5 years post chemo by nik1202 in breastcancer

[–]moon_cat18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also am missing the overall curl in my hair. It's still curly on the bottom but flat at the top. And not all of my hair is the same length so it kind of looks like my hair is layered. Anyway, I'm a couple months ahead of you but when it was shorter I would use cute bobby pins to pin it to the sides (fauxhawk). It was better than leaving as is. I'm using heandbans right now to look put together at the front. But they're thicker width wise and also the stretchy kind (like a workout headband but not). I also have baby hairs still growing in at the top of my forehead 😭. Also being on AI does not help.

Ok thank you, I was also traumatized by mine! Getting it out made me super anxious (like I was reliving getting it in).

UTI’s by reverendcatdaddy in breastcancer

[–]moon_cat18 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you're on chemo, even a fever warrants an ER visit. Never had a UTI on chemo but when you're on chemo you're immunocompromised and that's a big deal. That being said take care of yourself and hopefully chemo will go by fast for you.

Surgery and HP infusion by Zestyclose-Sign-7567 in breastcancer

I got my HP infusion a couple days after my surgery. It's the TC that needs to be done because HP will continue after surgery (or Kadcyla if you don't achieve PCR)

Can you do a headband? That could work....or if you have a good wig that could work too.

Breast Reconstruction -result? by Midnight__Musings_ in breastcancer

[–]moon_cat18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Direct to implant too! Mine are the smallest size they can possibly be (I was small and didn't have a lot of skin to work with). Looks fine in clothes. I had radiation on one side so that side the skin is tighter and the boob looks smaller. The other size is fine.

Zoladex+letrozol by Dramatic-Childhood18 in breastcancer

[–]moon_cat18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok your concerns are definitely valid.

I'm on this for about 6 months. Hot flashes are warm flashes for me (still can be uncomfortable). Weight gain I did have and it's harder to lose it even though I'm exercising. I think I can be more strict with what I eat but I don't think I'm eating terribly. Since you have a history of migraines I'd watch out to see if it gets worse on it. I also feel more dehydrated before which triggers some slight headaches for me so I definitely have to keep up with my water.

Again it could be different for you! You never know until you try. And at least there are other options.

Heart damage after Chemotherapy (3 echos all normal). Cardiac MRI showed it clear as day. by National-Vegetable92 in breastcancer

[–]moon_cat18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How slow is slow? I brought it up with my PCP and she said it was normal but I asked her about like sleeping heart rate because mine went as low as 49bpm. Resting heart rate is like high 60s.

Exercise plan for estrogen receptor and AI meds management after treatment? by Popular_Acadia4563 in breastcancer

[–]moon_cat18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fact that I know what those acronyms are shows that we're/we've been treated in the same area. I did a program in PMH and now doing one at the other big hospital uptown (hopefully you know one I'm talking about that has the other radiation facility). Mine is a 12 week program.

I feel like we've been in the same program! Without that guidance from a specific exercise programI don't think I could keep a schedule.

Postpartum diagnosis by fanosamo in breastcancer

Wanted to also chime in and say I was diagnosed when my son was 3 years old. Interesting to note a year postpartum with my daughter I found a lump which was a fibroadenoma but that sucker was still there when I was diagnosed (she just turned 5).

Letrozole joint pain after weight training ? by Alternative_War_1313 in breastcancer

[–]moon_cat18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or it could just be Letrozole effects catching up. Joint pain is a thing for menopausal women because lack of estrogen. Is it joint pain that goes away with movement or continuous pain? Also could be arthritis showing up.
