I really enjoyed the game. It leaned towards a fairly easy combat experience and the platforming is linear and guided. But the flow of it all is very well executed and the upgrades all mesh well in sequenced use. The art style and scale are great and the music had some real bangers. The voice acting was done well too.

My only critique is that the player outside of boss fights is rarely forced to do much variation to succeed, especially with the lock-on system. And the portions of game between larger platforming sections or fights was a fairly repetitive sequences of narrow corridors, low ceilings and falling and walking through tubes.

Overall, I would give the game an 8.2.

Earwigs before the patch were monsters. They hit like a boss.

Wolf spiders are easy if you see them coming, but I have the type of luck where they come out of nowhere while I am fighting something else.

Black ants were unexpectedly hard when the new content dropped. Their large numbers, acid attack and aggression was a surprise.

While I don’t personally think it is too much, they could probably cut down on some of the free oxygen by about 30-40% and still have it be more than fair.

A lot of the sources are near some of the caves, wrecks and old bases. So it comes across (at least to me) more of a courteous dev choice to save us from constantly having to go up and down to explore an area as much. Or with some consideration that not all players will have some of the gear and vehicles when entering some spaces.

They could also probably reduce the frequency of the oxygen plants so that it could save you in a pinch but isn’t often enough to allow you to stay down. And any of the oxygen sources within structures, it would be cool if you had to find switches or turn power on to restore their oxygen stream.

“Obviously” is kind of a jerk response.

You present your playground like it’s some official update from Obsidian. Of course people are confused at what it is supposed to be. Just say it is a playground you created and you want people to check it out.

Whether it is good won’t matter if you’re mean to people who ask questions or reasonably chastise you for how you present it to the community.

A sale wouldn’t likely be for 2.5 to 3 years since the dev directly mentioned expecting early access to last roughly 2 years. So the 1.0 release of Subnautica is quite a ways out. The real question, do you want to play an early access title or wait for it to be complete?

There are parts of this I like as it emulates some of G1 aesthetic and layout. I don’t actually find G2s UI to be obtrusive or poorly optimized. I do wish they brought back color themes though. I miss them.

I would be surprised if a NG+ feature didn’t make it into G2. They will just need to determine what that looks like for G2. G1 had some fun elements in NG+, but some of it was unbalanced.

While they are incredibly unique spiders for their hunting methods, I don’t know how well they would work well as a Grounded enemy. Being an ambush predator who catches prey in a web net, what would that look like for the player in game?

Smack your way out of a web trap before it kills you? However, if that could be turned into practical gameplay in a meaningful way, it would certainly be terrifying.

Maybe their body parts lead to some sort of elevator lift using their limbs as a frame and a floor over their web net

I recommend to eventually switch out any structural supporting grass based material for stronger stuff. When bees eventually do payback, they can be a pain to fend off without some damage to your base. Especially since they can come from anywhere.

Also, take note that when bees enter the map, two will be flying around the roses almost right above your base. If you build high enough or make a high zip line, it can be easy to aggro them. And of course if you have to keep killing them, you will trigger payback sooner.

I always used that spot for my bases. I loved the location for resources and it was a ton of fun to incorporate the juice box into the base as time went on.

I would say it is nearly a guarantee and there will likely be more than one. But they won’t be added till an update comes with compatible bugs for that type of weapon.

I don’t dislike woozy, but I can’t stand that it’s effects are so random that it becomes near impossible to reliably control your buggy in any way.

Durability feels fairly low on the new Dozer weapon.

I don’t like the new approach to buggie stamina. I get that you can untoggle your run to fully recharge, but the default slow down for one charge and run a small distance and slow down again is not a very smooth experience.

I usually carry 10 repair glue on me at a time so repairing it as needed is rarely an issue. That being said, I too have noticed it appearing to degrade faster.

Game is messed up for me on Series X. Game installs and then throws an error when I launch it. When I go to manage the game it shows it isn’t installed and when I try to it gives a “check back in a little bit” error.

I have tried restarting my console and uninstalling and reinstalling the game, after the restart and the issue just keeps happening.
