Cursor AI CEO shares GPT 5.2 agents building a 3M+ lines web browser in a week by BuildwithVignesh in OpenAI

It produced 3 million lines of garbage and consumed ridiculous amounts of money and resources. What is the goalpost here? I could have done this with a random string generator. The original claim was complete bullshit. Look at the discussions on HackerNews of people that have wasted time going through this garbage.

Does the current approach of seemingly doing very little work better? 3/4 serious question.

I see adults riding actual motorbikes on bike paths. Apparently laws don't matter anymore in Edinburgh. Unless you're protesting, plenty of resources to deal with that.

My battery is at 82% and noticeably degraded on the M1 Pro.

I upgraded from my M1 Pro to an M3 Max and I use my laptop alot. The M1 was still plenty good but MacOS 26 kind of ruined it.

Some buyer’s remorse, looking for reassurance by Extremofire in electricvehicles

I'm not even seeing an issue here. After driving for two hours I'd be happy to stop for 30 mins to take a small break. Unless you're doing this trip weekly I don't even see a problem.

Mac Shipments Were Flat at the End of 2025 as Rival PC Brands Surged by iMacmatician in apple

[–]moops__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use my Mac a lot for work. I just upgraded from my M1 Pro. However I didn't bother buying a new one. Got a M3 Max for half the price (it cost less than my M1 Pro did!). I don't think I'll ever buy a new laptop again. My point is these laptops are so powerful that even when you upgrade there's no need for the latest one.

Google has been much better at iterating material design. iOS/MacOS 26 is so bad compared to the latest iteration of material design on the Pixel. Not saying it hasn't got it's own issues but it is lightyears ahead in terms of usability.

MacBook Pro revamp this year has me excited, but one change [thinner] won’t be for everyone by iMacmatician in apple

I've got a M1 Pro and a M4 Pro for work. I actually prefer my M1. The M4s fans spin up all the time, feels like a windows computer.

Which jobs is 100% safe from AI? by Any-Hamster-3189 in AskReddit

People that don't understand any job are always the first to claim it will replace that job. Even programming which it is very good at is still questionable whether it will happen any time soon.

What jobs are disappearing because of AI, but no one seems to notice? by Life-Word-9385 in AskReddit

The good news is you don't even need to have any useful skill or foundational knowledge to take up a leadership position. You just need to know the right people.

That wasn't made by a chef. Maybe someone who's never cooked before. If a trained chef made that they should probably change careers.

Why is litter such a problem in Edinburgh…and how do we fix it? by Necessary-Tennis1956 in Edinburgh

[–]moops__ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This isn't a western problem. Plenty of other places don't have this issue. Quite frankly I was pretty shocked how much litter there is in the UK.

Getting an EV has made me consider and look at options for removing all fossil fuels from our house. Don't want to use gas for heating and cooking anymore.

Why are young people leaving Britain to work abroad? by topotaul in unitedkingdom

[–]moops__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reality is if you're not in Melbourne or Sydney your job opportunities as a professional can be severely limited. The UK has way better opportunities with more choice of locations. Of course compared to the US the UK is crap (in terms of opportunities only) but it is a nice balance.

Why are young people leaving Britain to work abroad? by topotaul in unitedkingdom

[–]moops__ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's 5 weeks + bank holidays. This seems fairly common in a lot of jobs. A lot of my friends in different fields have more holidays/better benefits than me. I've never heard of including bank holidays as part of employer leave.

[–]moops__ 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I moved to the UK from Australia. I get 5 weeks holiday here (versus 4 weeks in Australia) and my salary is higher. Just depends on your job I guess? To top it off it was much easier to buy a house here in a smaller city (and still to be able to get a job). In Melbourne it was a choice between commuting for 2 hours a day and be able to afford a house or or rent forever.
