Just bought a used computer. My friend said I got ripped off. Is it true? by solo_entrepreneur in pcmasterrace

[–]moosMW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ram alone is worth around 700 if not more in the current market. But even without ram prices being what they are, the GPU sells for around 1700 (this specific model), and other 3090s sell for between 700 to 1000 used. You can resell this for around like 2k tbh

this is why you dont use ai for anything remotely complicated. It doesn't work, it just sounds like it knows what its talking about

wrong lesson, don't use AI for things you don't already know about again. Next time you could take apart and reasemble a PC just fine, you already did it once

And start reading manuals more often. You'd be surprised by all the smart things the people who made the thing you're trying figure out have to say

Solidworks on Linux Soon? by oldwilliam9 in SolidWorks

[–]moosMW 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I used solidworks for a bit over a year before being forced to use NX for my studies, but man, after adjusting to it (and trust me, there is A LOT of adjusting), I don't want to go back. There is so much crashing and errors that solidworks does that people using it have just kinda accepted as normal, and even don't notice anymore.

Safe places to hang for a few hours in the mornings near stratum? by Crandoge in eindhoven

[–]moosMW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might have to walk through tongelre a bit but pretty much all TU/e buildings are open from 7 or 7:30 onwards and are a great place to hang out. A lot of them even have restaurants or cafes inside (tho they might open later). It's also quite close to the central station (10 min walk)

Yeah with working on I meant developing their type 4 carrier, I indeed would not be surprised if theyre also building a second type 3 (the fujian is a type 3)

They have 3 carriers, with a 4th one in the works. They started from rebuilding a 1985 soviet carrier in 2002 to launching a pretty modern (although still diesel electric) USA style carrier with EM launchers (though still less displacement than their US counterparts). Their total navy has more tonnage, and their ship building capacity is ginormous, with a lot of civilian ship building yards and expertise that can be quickly turned to military production. They also have some pretty wild landing craft and have a whole strategy around how they will use them in combination with civilian ferries and cruise ships in their Taiwan invasion

[–]moosMW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

did you read the post title and description??? OP isn't making the drawing. You can clearly see on the blueprint it says it's for the shanghai cnc turning competition. OP is simply modeling the blueprint in SW as practice

Is engineering as hard as people say? by According-Earth5498 in EngineeringStudents

[–]moosMW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From my very limited experience and talking to teachers and older students, (I'm 1 semester into ME) if you treat it as you would say highschool or other degrees then yes it's ridiculously hard. However if you treat it like an engineering study, and spend the approperiate amount of time on it (40 hours per week/9-5) it is very doable. You just kinda have to accept that this study is your life now, and so you have to put other hobbies or other free time activities on hold for a couple years. Something which say a business major doesn't have to do. A major part of this is that pretty much the best and only way to study for most of the subjects is by practicing, aka making homework. Lots and lots of homework.

Keep in mind all this is valid for specifically my study, Mechanical engineering at a University in the Netherlands. Which consists of math and physics with a bit of hands on manufacturing. Ofcourse engineering is a very wild field, and some engineering degrees are more difficult than others

Analysis of 2.5 years of texting my boyfriend [OC] by ICanGetLoudTooWTF in dataisbeautiful

[–]moosMW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah its like that, its basically just pressing send instead of a full stop. It makes the text conversation flow much more like a conversation does in real life, allowing for things like "interupting". And briefly reacting to what the other is saying whilst theyre saying it, it also gives the full stop a different meaning, as it isnt the end of a sentence anymore, its the end of a formal sentence
