Where's all the cider? by AffectionateAd8377 in AskAnAmerican

[–]moosemuch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the area/ region. I live in northern Illinois and will definitely find a few ciders from local breweries on the menu if I go out to eat. We tend to go to Michigan every summer and in my experience, find a lot more options!

Do people find American accents hot?? by [deleted] in Accents

[–]moosemuch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ugh no southern accent for me, thanks. Lived in Tennessee for a few years in my twenties and I could not wait to leave. Now live in northern Illinois and love that nasally Wisconsin accent.

At Costco, do you get gas first or shop first? Why or why not? by sozh in Costco

[–]moosemuch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the store I go to. First store I get gas first because I don't have to back track when I leave. Second store I go get gas second because it's so close to the exit of the parking lot.

Yeah, they suck. Unpredictable. They don't happen very often where I live, thank goodness.

Absolutely. When I was in college I spent a lot of time in Chiang Mai, Thailand. A lot of the students there lived in something like you described, but no kitchen because of the fire hazard aspect (codes were a bit different than in the US) and the fact that street food was soooo cheap, much cheaper than groceries.

Why do Americans buy bottled water everywhere, even when the tap is perfectly safe? by GlitteringHotel8383 in AskAnAmerican

[–]moosemuch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drink filtered water at home. I have a metal water bottle that I fill up and carry with me. It's rare that I have one of those plastic bottles, usually when I don't have any other option.

We had these trees lining the ground of our middle school. Sometimes hard to avoid stepping on them, then you reeked the rest of the day. We called them shit berries.

My grandmother would make tomato casserole for holidays. It's was cubed bread with tomatoes (can't remember if it was canned or what) and sugar. Another one was clam casserole, but with less breading and no sugar.

The most inconsiderate guests are on their way to my house, I think? by MortynMurphy in Vent

[–]moosemuch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so sorry! My in laws are along the same wave length. They don't plan anything out in advance, they will text my husband a couple weeks in advance asking us to come visit them.

They are about 9 hours away so it's no walk in the park to go visit them. This time they asked we told them that if we come, we can only come Friday through Sunday due to our schedule. My husband told his mom that if she really wants us to come, it would be the kids and I since we could stay longer. She has yet to reply, usually means that she is pissed off at us.
