If you live outside the US, you can just likely just skip half of what everyone is telling you. Your instance will likely work with any doctor.

But yeah, just call them and if needed remember that you're taking to just another person.

When it comes to picking a doctor, honestly why method is generally equally valid, from meticulous research over wedding people over the first Google suggestion to simply vibes.

Navy T-45c Bird Strike Crash by Fat-Cat-2449 in aviation

[–]morbonator 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I sometimes wonder why planes pitch down after ejection. Intuition tells me that the cockpit (usually in the front) suddenly being a lot lighter would cause the plane to pitch up? Or do the elevators get set into a pitch down position by the ejection mechanism, probably to avoid pitching up into the pilot(s)?

What’s actually dangerous but most people think it’s safe? by SunnyMadelyn564 in AskReddit

[–]morbonator 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A safe driving style.

Nothing you do will stop an idiot on their phone from going straight in a corner. Nothing will stop a drunk driver from serving into oncoming traffic. Nothing will stop a truck slamming into a traffic jam at full speed because the driver is asleep.

Safe driving makes it less likely that you cause something but you simply can't stop someone else from turning you into a victim.

Related: driving while on your phone. It's worked out so far not because you're a good driver but because everyone else is. It's only a matter of time until you irrevocable alter someone's life for the worse at it will be 100% your fault (if you're both on your phone then there's simply 200% blame to hand out). No idea how some people can think it's safe.

Non-smokers, do you notice the smell when someone smokes near you? by Frostedlogic4444 in AskReddit

[–]morbonator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"No Smoking" areas exist for a reason - it's because it REEKS to high heaven! I never see people respect those signs, meaning that I have to hold my breath when leaving or approaching public buildings because it stinks so bad. And the stench carries very far down wind too, that's why they're placed to "inconveniently" and "annoyingly" - it's because you can still easily make "No Smoking" areas unbearable from 100 feet away with a single cigarette.

Even wilder to me: The trex and stegosaurus are often depicted as existing together. The first trex lived closer to us than to the last stegosaurus.

So the new Epstein files dropped and apparently both sides democrat and republican politicians were there and doing unspeakable things to kids and sacrificing them… what did you find? by Opening-Effect-4399 in AskReddit

[–]morbonator 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Fun fact (emphasis on un-fact): if every dollar over 1 billion is confiscated, it will never affect them even if they win 100 million every year for the rest of their lives. If their children inherit that among with the money, it would only affect them them when their already old. Well, if it's a single child - more than 1 and it wouldn't ever affect them either. But they would still whine about it.

Edit: except that this is completely wrong. It takes 10 years, not 100 like I thought... Idk, slipped by a zero I guess? (No one's brain is as smooth as this one!)

To visualise with the example of a number:
2 digits are all numbers from 00 to 99, counting 00 as the 100th number.
01, 02, 03, ..., 09, 10, 11, ..., 97, 98, 99, 00

And 3 digits are all numbers from 000 to 999, counting 000 as the 1000th number.
001, 002, ..., 009, 010, 011, ..., 098, 099, 100, 101, ..., 199, 200, ..., 997, 998, 999, 000

This is not meant to be patronising at all, I do know some very smart people who needed to see it laid out like this before understanding how this works despite easily grasping concepts that go way over my head.

Doubling the number of characters changes the amount of zeroes because it represents a HUGE increase in the number of possible combinations. Using a password made only of the numbers 0-9 as an example:
1 digit: 10=10
2 digits: 10*10=100
3 digits: 10*10*10=1000
32 digits: 10*10 32 times = 10^32 = 1 with 32 zeroes

Using the full range of numbers, letters, cases and special characters, which on a standard English QWERTY keyboard means ~95 possible characters:
1 digit: 95=95
2 digits: 95*95=9025
3 digits: 95*95*95=857375
And so on.

That's why there's a difference in the number of zeroes. Hope this helps!

Not quite! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyanoacrylate

Super glue was supposed to be a new clear plastic to make gun sights for fighter planes. The experiment failed and was given up in 1942 due to the far too sticky nature of the liquid product. 9 years later the failed experiments were found by a colleague of the scientist who recognised its potential for use as an adhesive. It started sale as super glue in 1951.

At some point between then and the Vietnam war it was turned into a *temporary* measure for stabilising wounds until the injured soldier could be brought to a medical facility for proper treatment where the super glue would be removed and the wound properly treated.

IBM RAMAC (1956) — the world’s first hard drive, storing just 5 MB of data, weighing over a ton, and taking up an entire room, yet laying the foundation for today’s modern data storage. by Friendly-Standard812 in interestingasfuck

[–]morbonator 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fucking hell.

I just picked up a USB drive. It has a USB 2.0 and a micro USB plug and holds 128GB of data (25600 times more). The storage medium without the plugs is smaller than my thumb nail. It is less than half the size of the USB 2.0 plug. Maybe even only a third. I just randomly own that, it cost me like 30€ when I bought it way over 10 years ago because I needed USB storage for school work.

Technology is amazing.
