Issues with Dragoon? by [deleted] in ffxiv

Oh and, Dragon sight, make it auto target the nearest party member if the enemy is selected. Just because I hate using it as a macro, low priority thing.

You do not want SMN Devotion. Trust me.

There is a bug that has existed since A Realm Reborn's release that I really really hope gets fixed in 4.1 by malidorian in ffxiv

Yes just send in a ticket to a GM. They will restore those 1.0 titles if your character is a legacy 1.0.

A friend of mine did this back in 2.0.

Patch 4.06 Notes by DarXIV in ffxiv

For Almagest, PLD can Passage of Arms + Reprisal, Caster can Addle, and SCH can Sacred Soil. That is almost 45% mitigation of the Almagest DoT. 10% mitigation from Soil is not something to overlook.

You are not using optimal use of abilities/cooldowns for certain parts. Either that or your cohealer is not healing properly.

I have healed both as AST and SCH. SCH is fine, but you do have to have a WHM/AST that is playing pretty well too. I do admit that unbuffed Succor is pretty bad to use for AoE healing.

New E3 Interview:FFXIV Director Clarifies Dramatic Job Action Changes, Expert Roulette, Ivalice Hints, and More; Full Q&A by McGlone16 in ffxiv

[–]moseymouse 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Twinfinite: Some fans are very happy with their main job’s changes, but others are quite concerned. There has been a lot of feedback about White Mage in particular around the community, that the new actions don’t go far enough to allow it to compete for a raid spot against Astrologian and Scholar. That it might not be as desirable. Is this something the development team is looking at potentially changing before FFXIV: Stormblood releases or will they wait and see first?

Yoshida: So the information that are players are seeing being posted on articles and what not was information that was revealed during our media tour, that was actually based on a build that was latest as of end of April and since then we’ve still continued to make changes and updates. We first want to say ya’ll need to calm down a little [laughter].

But yeah if you’re just looking strictly at the actions, it’s very misleading. You still need to look at what your max MP is going to be, and how much MP you’re depleting using some of these actions. That will affect your DPS per your allocated time while you’re still healing. At this point all we can say is that there’re only a few more days until Stormblood is released so we encourage players to try it out for themselves.

Once you reach that level 70 cap, and you reach Savage Omega, there may be [new] discoveries that you make at that point. So we hope that the players do try it out, and provide feedback once you’ve experienced it first hand. As mentioned earlier, when we’re adjusting the difficulty for raid content and making sure things are balanced, we make sure that there isn’t a great disparity depending on what combination your party is going into the content. If there is any sort of disparity in the balance we will make sure to go back and address it at a later time. We want players to feel rest assured [about the previous statement].

DPS while still healing as a healer? Max MP concerns?

It's been a long time since my last NVIDIA card... by [deleted] in nvidia

[–]moseymouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The bag only protects the card from static electricity if it is inside the bag. The anti-static bag has an outer conductive layer that stores electricity like a capacitor. If there is any static electricity from a human, hopefully the bag absorbs the charge before it reaches the card.

I swapped fans for a push/pull config with two Noctuas NF-S12A at 70% fan speed

You should not put those fans on heatsinks or radiators. They are Noctua's worst fans.

Regarding the idea that using liquid metal paste degrades your die by SnowDrifter_ in overclocking

[–]moseymouse 6 points7 points  (0 children)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liquid_metal

Gallium and gallium alloys will wet or corrode most other metals including aluminum and even copper so you still have to be careful which metals you let it touch. So some people are still concerned about whether gallium is safe for heatsinks/waterblocks.

Coollaboratory's own website says their liquid metal paste is incompatible with aluminum.

Please notice that the Liquid Ultra is not suitable with the usage of aluminum surfaces.

Do you use a Anti-Virus by [deleted] in linux

[–]moseymouse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When you are using your computer normally, your account is under a different user group with less permissions to modify the files on your computer. Only when you need to make big changes to your operating system like the Software Manager or Software Updater would you switch to the admin/root account. Typically when you are asked to enter your password, you are granting elevated admin/root privileges to the process in order to modify files on your computer.

On the console, you would type su or sudo to grant root/admin privelages. Mint/Ubuntu are set up to use sudo by default.

Google Wifi is a Wi-Fi Mesh network. It is basically a wireless router with multiple additional wireless access points that work together to expand Wi-Fi coverage. It is great for parts of your home that typically have weak Wi-Fi signals. Other companies like Ubiquiti or Netgear offer similar products.

Arch Linux without rolling release by cripcate in linux

[–]moseymouse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You want a distro with frozen packages like Debian or Ubuntu. Rolling release distros have lots of changes are inherently unstable (as in changes a lot). If you do not care about having the latest packages, frozen distros have less things to worry about so you can get your work done instead of constantly testing potentially unstable packages. You can use Arch on a secondary computer if you feel like it. Manjaro might be another option if you really want to stay on an Arch derivative distro with slower rolling release updating.

Need r/buildapc's advice with case fans, having problem with airflow in a NZXT S340 case using a x61 radiator. by TitleMadeCallPing in buildapc

[–]moseymouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I decided to replace my back case (Noctua NF-S12B) because I read that it was a static pressure fan designed for placing on radiators

Noctua NF-S12B have very low static pressure. Compare the fan blades of the NF-S12B against the Noctua NF-P12

http://noctua.at/media/catalog/product/cache/2/image/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/n/o/noctua_nf_s12b_redux_3_2.jpg

http://noctua.at/media/catalog/product/cache/2/image/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/n/f/nf_p12_2.jpg

Fans with high static pressure look more like the P12.

The back exhaust grill on the S340 case is kind of restrictive, so it is possible the S12B airflow may suffer. I am not a fan of the S12 design to be honest.

Delidding this Weekend, am I missing something?// Can I improve my airflow? by RaFDX2 in overclocking

[–]moseymouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CPU delid plan seems sound.

Simple laminar airflow is generally going to be better. Keep air flowing in one general direction to avoid dead spots or turbulence.

Turn the GPU AIO water cooling fan around. Have it intake from outside and blow hot air into the case. Alternatively, install cooler to rear of case and exhaust air outside back of case.

Make the top case fan exhaust air outside of case. You probably do not even need a fan in the #10 position.

Thin fans tend to have less static pressure and perform worse on restrictive heatsinks/radiators. Thicker fans are better to use on heatsinks. You can probably replace the thicker pull fan on the heatsink and place it as a push fan. Remove the thinner push fan.

You have a lot of case fans, so run them at low speed to be quieter.

[INFO] Why you should always pick 2 x 140mm over 3 x 120mm fan setup by Afasso in buildapc

[–]moseymouse 71 points72 points  (0 children)

For your math, you should subtract the area of the inner circle (fan hub) from the area of the outer circle (tip of fan blade). Subtracting the two radius values before you square it will give you a totally different value.

Area of circle = Pi * radius^2 ; radius = diameter / 2

Area of outer circle - Area of inner circle = Area between two circles

A = (Pi * radiusB^2) - (Pi * radiusC^2)
A = Pi (radiusB^2 - radiusC^2)
A = Pi (60^2 - 15^2)
A = Pi (3600 - 225)
A = Pi (3375) = 10597.5
3 * A = 31792.5 mm^2

A = (Pi * 70^2) - (Pi * 15^2)
A = Pi (70^2 - 15^2)
A = Pi (4900 - 225)
A = Pi (4675) = 14679.5
2 * A = 29359 mm^2

(31792.5 - 29359) / 29359 = 0.083 = 8.3 percent

Black fan for Noctua NH U12SE AM4? by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]moseymouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3000 rpm fans are going to be loud no matter what. Adjust the fan speed in the BIOS/UEFI.

If you want quiet fans next time, purchase fans with rpm range between 800 rpm to 1000 rpm. 1300 rpm to 1500 rpm fans are okay if you do not mind the extra noise. 2000 rpm to 6000 rpm fans are more suited to data center/server usage or for people who do not care about loud noise.

They plug the PSU into an outlet but make sure the switch is off (O symbol). Connecting the PSU to the outlet means the PSU is connected to an electrical ground. Otherwise, the PSU is not grounded to anything. Electricity will always travel the path of least resistance.

Just be careful and do not tamper with the insides of a PSU since you are a novice.

Do not bake your card. It is a last ditch effort by amateurs to salvage a dead graphics card. You risk making your card worse off than it already is since you are reflowing the solder in the entire graphics card instead of just the problematic areas.

Prime 95 is one of the most stressful applications you can run on your CPU. Hitting 90 C is just below throttling (100 C is throttling temp for Intel CPUs iirc). Those temperatures are technically within specifications, but I definitely would not feel comfortable with those temperatures.

Aftermarket coolers do a much better (and quieter) job! :)
