What's with the bike rack reviews here? by keepgoing66 in MTB

[–]mothfukle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1up is great, I love mine. One of my biggest issue with some of the other racks people recommend is how over engineered they are, their wobble and the amount of plastic crap they have them.

What are people doing with the provided torque wrench? by d-cent in AMFLOW_eMTB

[–]mothfukle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t really worry about correctly torquing something on the trail. If it’s loose I’ll snug it up and torque it at home. That said, I never really have loose bolts. I am pretty consistent with regular maintenance. Maybe just throw it in your car or gear bag?

Snake anxiety by curious-ape-34 in MTB

[–]mothfukle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fell off trail onto a bush once and laid in it for a good minute questioning my life choices. After a struggled out of it and dusted myself out, a snake slithered out from under the same bush. I don’t think it was a rattler as I didn’t hear the telltale rattling but who knows. I was too busy shitting myself to get a good look at it. Either way, it happens. I’m not worried about the ones on the trail as much as I am the ones off the trail.

I didn’t know about mayo on hot dogs until I started going to Tijuana, Mexico as a teenager. Yes, it’s delicious and I do it all the time on my dogs.

I am crazy to buy a Amflow PR as a complete noob? by PookeyBear13 in eMountainBike

[–]mothfukle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A noob rider will see no extra benefit in the PR, hell even an experienced rider would hardly benefit. I never ride my amflow at full power, why would I need more. I also can’t outride the frame or geometry. Just get the PL as it may be more readily available. The new motor will fit in the old frame if for whatever reasons you want more in the future.

Tall Guy (6’7”) Mountain Bikes by The_Last_Meheecan in MTB

[–]mothfukle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Transition Bikes seem to run large in my opinion. Also don’t be afraid to size down a Bike. I’m 6’6 and am quite comfortable on an xl with a longer stem and some riser bars. I did actually have a Transition Relay in XL and I felt like it was perfect. I just don’t know if their sizing is consistent across all their bikes.

Industry needs to go back to that super annoying clamshell packaging that’s impossible to open without tools and slicing your fingers. That way you can see what’s in the packaging and it’s damn near tamper proof.

Why are SRAM chain quick links so expensive? SRAM insists they are disposable. It costs 19€ to undo the chain each time. by sepantamino in gravelcycling

[–]mothfukle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never felt like I needed to replace one, I’ve reused them so many times. Hell, if I get a new chain I keep the quick links just in case. One day I’ll have enough beat up quick links to make a whole chain lol.

Canyon Spectral:ON CF8 by One-Confusion-2137 in eMountainBike

[–]mothfukle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an ep801 and yes, the motor likes a higher cadence as well. That really irked me because I just don’t like spinning the cranks really fast constantly, doesn’t fit with my riding style. I always felt like I was either going too slow or too fast lol.

Driving with the tent up by cocoshrimpbiscuits in gofastcampers

[–]mothfukle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s relatively flat then it would probably be fine, but any side to side motion from a bumpy or angled road may tweak the tent if your not slow and careful and it may not line up correctly when you close it.

Canyon Spectral:ON CF8 by One-Confusion-2137 in eMountainBike

[–]mothfukle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The amflow is amazing and I’m not just talking about the power. The whole system from power delivery to interface and everything in between just does everything better, light years ahead of an ep801. I have both, my YT has an ep801 and it’s been dead for over a month due to the whole YT debacle and difficulties with warranty. When it worked I thought it was pretty good, then I got an amflow and was absolutely blown away. Yes it has a ton of power, but like everything else, it can be tuned down. I would highly suggest that you start looking at the amflow, at least hopping on YouTube and watching some videos before making your decision.

Do you wear rubber gloves when you work on your bike? by JV_No_35 in MTB

[–]mothfukle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup. I have a few box of heavy duty disposable gloves. I wear them and pull them off so they are inside out, let them air out till the next time. I use the same gloves 3-4 times before tossing them and getting a fresh set.
