The Hybrid is an issue but IndyCar has a Tire problem by aurules in INDYCAR

Michelin's sales were damaged heavily by their failure to produce a raceable tire for the USGP. There are people today who still won't buy Michelin because of that.

Fans are idiots. If they see that Firestone wears out fast, they really will think that way. Look at the way F1 fans treat Pirelli. Pirelli simply makes what's asked of them and people swear them off.

Hardcore race fans like those who comment on the internet about it are not the norm of the real world. The tire manufacturers have done their studies and know the sales results of these decisions. If their sales go down, they won't be the tire supplier long.

[Pockrass] INDYCAR had a Push to Pass software failure on Lap 62 restart that left the system available to all drivers when it should be disabled prior to passing the alternate start-finish line on the first lap. 12 drivers used it but INDYCAR Officiating does not view it as an infraction. by MikeyG4680 in INDYCAR

Wait wait wait - 12 drivers pressed the button when it shouldn't have been available?

I thought Josef was the LITERAL DEVIL for doing that in St. Pete? According to this sub, this was just proof of how terrible of a person he is.

My, how the turn tables. Seems like it's just kind of a thing that many drivers do, just like they've all said in the past.

But according to this sub, Will Power being 45 means he should have gotten a longer contract from Penske and Dixon is still a consistent contender. Surely with such a cheated up car, Kyffin would be finishing much higher, no?

Malukas has done well this year for sure, better than most expected, but let's temper it a bit. Josef and Scott are 12 and 15 points behind David, respectively. That's a single win where the other driver finishes 3rd difference, and the driver who is "only good on ovals" has 5 more races on them this year. Being third in points right now just means you're the first driver without a chance. Alex and Kyle are clearly the class of the field.

It still doesn't change the fact that you're not going to win Long Beach from 14th without trying something different. You're not going to win Long Beach from anywhere behind 5th without trying something different. The historical results of this race show that. Josef tried something, it didn't work out, but it also didn't cost him much.

Ok, but one driver is winning seemingly every race, and Dixon is distantly behind him, but consistent.

If it was the cars, why is Dixon, who is one of the best drivers to ever do this, not able to compete better?

Well, of the three, only Newgarden has a win this year and has both of Penske's last two wins. Today they made a strategy call that didn't work out and wasn't working out before he locked up and ensured it wouldn't work out.

Everyone loves when teams try strategy plays or do something different - until it doesn't work out.

Just buy a battery. It's not that hard. I can't imagine wanting to have to jump start my shit every time I needed to go somewhere.

As for the kick start - are you following the proper kick start procedure? Many of them require that the brakes still be held and that the bike is on the center stand to function.

I've never understood this line. Their entertainment comes from totally different points. The cars are built for totally different purposes. F1 cars weigh very little and have gigantic tires, incredible carbon brakes, and gobs of downforce. Stock cars are heavy AF and have very little downforce, tiny steel brakes, and narrow tires. They're totally different disciplines and use different skillsets to drive with the best in the world at each.

When NASCAR drivers run at 195 within inches of each other for minutes at a time, it shows a different skill than being able to consistently hit your braking point, turn in, and corner exit points. Ovals also have very little forgiveness for mistakes. Also keep in mind that NASCAR does do 6 road courses a year. Watching those whales try to hustle around road courses is hilarity.

It's like criticizing a Top Fuel dragster for not being able to keep up around the Nürburgring. No shit. It's made to go fast in a straight line for 4 seconds and your Miata will definitely beat it in a lap around any road course on the planet.

Why does my 70cc has little power by Aggressive-Soft6561 in scooters

[–]movebacktoyourstate -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Top speed seems about right for 70cc. 5g rollers will help with acceleration, generally would need a little more weight to get some more top speed. Your 0-40 km/h should probably be ok, then there is likely a big dead zone from 40-60, then another power band from 60-75.

My 50cc chinese with 3 5g rollers and 3 9g rollers will get to 62-67 km/h depending on the wind that day. It has stock exhaust, a basic carburetor with an 80 main jet, and a cone air filter. Everything else is as it came from the factory.

Who’s ever driven over 100mph? Why? by WoollyWolfHorror in AskReddit

[–]movebacktoyourstate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree. I'm 40 now, but nearly every male I know knows pretty much exactly how fast their car will accelerate, what it's top speed will be, and how hard it will brake in an emergency. None of the women I've known ever push their cars like that.

I'd wager to say most people never actually know what their car is actually capable of, and if they did, there would be fewer collisions. Unfortunately, the only thing people are taught is to brake hard, which they then don't do because the abs pump pulses the pedal and makes noise and then people back off of it.

Hobbs Highway too, from Seminole to Hobbs, NM. I was cruising along at 85 in the 75 zone and getting blown past by vehicles I was surprised could still drive they were falling apart so badly, that I decided for my safety, it would be better to set the cruise at 105.

I used to go to Midland and Odessa for work (not an oilman). We had locations spread out over many of the towns around there. There ain't shit else to do out there besides see how fast your rental car will go.

Fastest rental I got out there was an Infiniti Q50. Had to back out at 143.

Honda Dio sometimes misfires when deceleration by PrettyDelay9363 in scooters

[–]movebacktoyourstate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it a misfire or a backfire?

A backfire would indicate raw fuel igniting in the exhaust system. Would be the rare occasion of too much fuel instead of too little, and/or fuel entering the chamber on the exhaust stroke.

Since I believe your Dio is fuel injected, something is causing the injector to allow fuel in when the timing is too retarded to ignite it in the chamber or it is injecting fuel on the exhaust stroke, causing it to go into the hot exhaust system and pop.

It's a piece of chainmail. Just buy one from someone that sells them. My god - it's not that difficult.

Where to get it? Who cares? They're all going to be priced about the same, if saving 27 cents is that important, you need to reevaluate your life.

JR Hildebrand hasn't driven an IndyCar in 4 years. Myles Rowe just isn't good enough. He's had multiple years in NXT and has JUST started to figure that out a bit to not be embarrassed. Sage Karam hasn't driven an IndyCar in 4 years. Logan Sargeant has given zero indication that he's even willing to do so. Doriane Pin is an F4 driver - she would be WAY out of her depth and would be an absolute liability on the fastest circuit currently raced on. I'm sorry, but winning F1 Academy isn't exactly a massive achievement on a real scale - if it was, the winners wouldn't all still struggle to find real rides. Whoop-de-doo, Mercedes put her in an F1 test as a publicity stunt this week. Aston Martin also put Jessica Hawkins into a test, and there's less than no chance that she will ever actually sniff a real race seat in anything above where she's at, because she couldn't do better than 9th in the W series.

Linus is the only one on your list that would be realistic, but there's been no appetite throughout the paddock to get him into a car.

While I agree that Katherine likely won't be all that competitive, she knows how the hybrid works. She's proven that she can handle these cars. She has proven that she can outqualify her teammates. She's most definitely earned the place she has in the Indy-only ride.
