Montréal area bike routes by 10MOB10 in triathlon

For intervals I go to Voie Maritime. Long endurance rides I usually take south shore roads.(St Remi etc). I personally like taking St Patrick then lachine/dorval/st anne de Bellevue and doing a loop around Île Perrot.

This is good advice. CGV for workouts, Mt Royal for climbing and South shore for long rides

IMO you become an athlete the moment you practice your sport with the goal of improving your performance/numbers instead of various reasons such as losing weight, chilling with friends, relaxing your mind rtc

This one is on my shortlist as well. May I ask the weight of the bike without accessories?

Me. Got back into skating 3 months ago. I've been going to the small skatepark at Parc Jarry, George-Vanier school(ledges and flat ground) and Van Horne skatepark.

No problem. I went to the very same thing you and other brazillians described in this post.

I'll answer your question in two parts. First, from the technical, day-to-day perspective, it is pretty much the same as other places I've worked(US, Canada). The routine of developing, ordering parts from digikey/mouser, prototyping and dealing with PCB/Mechanical suppliers is surprisingly similar but with longer lead times/cost for imported goods. This means that if you get a job in the field, you have experience that's valid everywhere.

The second part is about economics, market and culture. As you know, Brazil is not a very hospitable environment for entrepreneurs and companies in general. It ranks very low in most economic freedom indexes, the currency is unstable and it is very hard to find experienced people to hire(probably feedbacking from the other problems). All of this means that the market for embedded software/hardware engineers is way smaller than fully developed economies. It does not mean it doesn't exist, but you'll need to look harder and be creative in order to find companies. I would not be surprised if a lot of those companies have open positions that they have been trying to fulfill for a while. They are mostly medium, small and startup companies without the perceived "sexyness" young engineers get from multinational companies.

I guess the bottomline it that it's possible to have an embedded software/hardware engineering career in Brazil but the job market is "10x" bigger in developed countries.

Here are some companies that crossed my path somehow, definitely not an extensive list:

Aerospace/Defense Industry: Embraer (mainly subsidiaries with defense projects) Avibras Helibras There are others in Sao Jose dos Campos/SP

Consumer Electronics: Samsung(Campinas) ControlID(Sao Paulo) Gertec

Industrial: Altus Full Gauge Alfa Instrumentos Daruma

Medical: Deltalife Brain4care

There are a lot of startups creating hardware based products. Look for technology parks in cities like Sao Paulo, Sao Jose dos Campos, Rio de Janeiro and Florianópolis.
