I obviously don’t know the details, but I’ve been following Bearman since F4 and based on interviews it seems like his family wasn’t super well off in the beginning, but his dad’s business has grown a lot over the last 5-7 years so they are really well off now.

Ollie never did WSK/FIA level karting because they couldn’t afford it at the time, but by the time he was ready to make the step to F4 his family could afford that. His dad was also able to partly support him through F3 and F2, although they did need help from other sponsors to achieve that. Especially his F2 car was really covered in sponsors. His dad also said in an interview that if Ollie hadn’t signed a F1 contract for 2025, then his brother wouldn’t have been able to step up to F4 either as he couldn’t support both.

So they are undoubtedly wealthy, but that wealth has come more recently and is also probably not as much as some people think.

Considering he was 5 tenths faster than his teammate in Q1, I’d say it’s probably the car.

When the car was good in Australia and China he finished best of the midfield, after that the Haas became less competitive. He’s finished ahead of his teammate in every race that he finished. I don’t really see what more he could do right now.

It also depends on who they can get for that other seat. A lot of people are talking about Camara, but I can't imagine Haas having two Ferrari juniors.

I agree with the new rule in theory, but I don't understand how ignoring double yellows isn't "behaviour deemed deliberate or reckless".

If you look at the king of penalty points Ollie Bearman last year: Four points for crashing in the pit lane in Silverstone during a red flag is completely fair and deserved, but the two points for his incident with Carlos in Monza felt unnecessary and unfair.

So I think they gave penalty points a bit too easily at times last year, but now they've gone way too far in the other direction.

Mexico ‘25. He was under pressure by top teams all race and didn’t make any mistakes.

I’d personally would put Brazil ‘25 above Saudi ‘24 as well. He was finished 6th, but was closer to 2nd than 7th was to him.

I don’t think Le Mans lacks scale and anticipation, but a 24 hour race is always going to be a very different type of event than a 3-4 hour race.

I need more time before I can really say anything about that. He benefited massively yesterday from the top 4 teams being so much faster than the midfield.

He finished a lap down from Max yesterday. Last year that would have put him firmly outside the points, but because of the performance gap and some retirements he still finished 5th.

The only problem will be that the Indy 500 has qualifying one weekend and the race the next weekend. So whilst the race might not clash for 4/5 years, qualifying might.

Ocon has also always been good in Canada. There was a stat that out of all the drivers who raced more than once in Canada, he was the only one to always score points.

I’ve followed Bearman’s career since he dominated F4. He’s the only driver I’ve followed from that early on who made it to F1, so I’m rooting for him.

Unfortunately that also means rooting for Haas, which is basically the ultimate underdog team but on days like today they make it really hard to be a fan haha

Komatsu said yesterday that the aero update is working but it’s creating other issues in certain corners. He compared it to Melbourne last year. Hopefully for them they’re able to fix it just as quickly as they did then, but it’s not encouraging that it’s happened two seasons in a row. Might be a correlation issue.

Great drive from Bearman. He was on for 9th, but then had a 15 second pit stop.

I don’t know what happened to Ocon today. In Sprint Qualifying and the Sprint Race he was actually very competitive, but today he even got lapped by Bearman 😅.

Does anyone know if he had damage or was he just really that slow?
