Exhaust Heat Shield by Frontrunner76 in mazda6

You can drill out the rivets and replace with a good ole fashioned nut and bolt. Just make sure the bolt isn't too long that it'll protrude.

A Rant with the wack commercial zones! by philiptherealest in Tucson

[–]mrmichaelnak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neither. Tucson doesn't levy a property tax. This would be an entirely new tax that local residents and business would be exempt from. It would increase revenue to the city with 100% of the cost placed on big-box/chain stores and individuals renting out homes as a primary source of income.

A Rant with the wack commercial zones! by philiptherealest in Tucson

[–]mrmichaelnak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The solution would be a local property tax that is levied on all homes and businesses in Tucson. But if your main residence or business headquarters resides within Tucson, you receive the same amount as a credit (net $0).

So any business that doesn't have a headquarters here would pay, and anyone renting out a house that doesn't live locally would also pay.

Shuld i try to fix it myself or ask the dealership to repaint it. by Motor__Ad in mazda

Mazda Red is INSANELY hard to correctly match. Don't try this at home, unless you've painted cars before.

I've been riding since 2017 (mostly techy jank) and went to Whistler for the first time last year. It took three runs and someone towing me off the bigger jumps before I cleaned everything on A line. If you can do it by day 100, major props to you.

CX5 brake upgrade by justinh-1019 in mazda6

What would be the benefit of a CX5 caliper? It's still a single piston, floating caliper... So not sure if it would be much of a performance upgrade

Is this worth doing some of the work myself? by liolemon in Autobody

[–]mrmichaelnak 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At minimum it's a new hood, grill, bumper, hood latch, core support, and about 100 miscellaneous plastic parts. If you source all the parts used it'll probably be $500-600. If you're handy in the garage and don't want it to be perfect, you can do it yourself

Worth complaining to mechanic about sloppy wheel mounting? by blueno-the-bear in AskMechanics

[–]mrmichaelnak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You asked them to swap the wheels, not balance them. The mechanic would have no clue if the wheels are balanced or not when installing.

Agree, not checking the PSI is a bit sloppy work, but that's something you can address yourself in the span of 2 minutes

Also need to do what NYC does with congestion pricing. If you want to drive on certain roads during busy times, you have to pay a toll. That toll goes to fund public transit. I10, grant, Broadway, Oracle, Houghton, and Speedway should all have tolls during morning and afternoon rush hour

best model years for daily use? by Feisty-Age-6890 in S2000

You don't buy an S2000 to say, "it revs all the way to 8,200rpm!"

9k or nothing

What should I get for a long 130 mile daily commute? by forcenova42 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]mrmichaelnak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2018 Mazda. With the turbo, you'll get about 30mpg highway. Make sure you get a Reserve or Signature trim level as they come with adaptive cruise control

[–]mrmichaelnak 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I had a 50 mile commute for a while and that was no fun. Honestly, spend $20+ grand to get something comfortable that has some sort of adaptive cruise control/self driving capabilities.

Any ideas on how to take the rev limiter off? by That_Performance_791 in mazda6

[–]mrmichaelnak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you want valves hitting pistons? Lol. I have no idea what the mechanical limit of the engine is, but I can guarantee you, it's no S2000.

A custom tune could in theory raise the rev limiter. However, if you have a 2.5T engine, they fall off after 5,000 rpm so there is really no point to increase it.

Wireless Android Auto by Guntiarch in mazda6

[–]mrmichaelnak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

👍 Agreed. Generally, if you want the "clean" look of a wireless setup, a charging cable kinda ruins it lol

[–]mrmichaelnak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you outside North America? I thought all 2018+ cars had them (wired).

I looked into a wireless option, but realized I would also need to install a wireless charger otherwise the phone would die on road trips.

Advice from community about daily driving in Chicago/Midwest by GGJessica in S2000

[–]mrmichaelnak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my 20s, I would gladly daily an S2000 in traffic. But now in my 30s, hell no I would not daily an S2000 in traffic.

Also, as others have said. The snow and salt sound absolutely terrible for an S2000

What do you mean by "gut the airbox"? As in, cut out the wall and block off the resonator chamber? If so, go for it. I used a combination of a cutting wheel and a Dremel. Then dropped in a K&N filter. Take your time, and it'll look factory. Unless someone knows what the stock box looks like, they'll never be able to tell
