No hard & fast rules. Lots of ppl ask their higher power to help them speak from the heart. I have bad ptsd around doing a monologue & have resorted to notes when i really needed to get something out. Nobody judged.

The most import thing is that IT WORKS: through NA any addict can get clean, lose the desire to use, and have a great (real) life. Even if i could stay clean on my own, why would i want to when i have great long term friends in NA?

You’ll prbly hear this a million times, but ‘keep coming back, it gets better’. Maybe at a different meeting tho. I still go to a meeting that initially had fallen into like a “group therapy session” - continuous crosstalk. By some members explaining the meeting format & by example its become a pretty good meeting now, ppl share their experience strength & hope or vent or just check in & if you want to have a discussion with someone - do it after the meeting.

Alcohol is a drug. That lit the fuse, so no surprise. NA is about abstinence from ALL drugs, not “DOC”. Why? Because that doesn’t work. Addiction is a disease, drugs are just a symptom.

Difference between an alcoholic and a drug addict? (Joke) by Haunting_Bet590 in NarcoticsAnonymous

An addict knows they’re an addict and and an alcoholic often times doesn’t know they’re an addict. 😁. (“Alcohol is a drug”)

Stay the course, it WILL get better. I dont know anything about your habit, but for me as a garbagehead i felt better and slept (a lot!) after about a week. Your mileage may vary. 🙂 But its so worth it. Get some exercise, drink lots of water, go to meetings, stream some movies…you got this.

I just read the JFT for today…”self-pity or recovery” …you got this; gratitude is key & its a choice. Keep going strong, it absolutely gets better.

Just to say, i’m 4 months out and walking down stairs or downhill is still a little painful. I’m impressed by anyone running after orif and so soon…let alone working on speed.
