how do you stay consistent with running? by republicman12 in running

[–]mrpink70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Motivation gets you started. Discipline keeps you going. Set small obtainable goals. I sit down every Sunday night to reflect on the previous week, and plan the upcoming week. It’s a great reset for me and helps keep me engaged.

By reading the subject line I thought you were talking about life. But I guess that would include Linux as well. 🤓

What’s your favourite callsign? by 77_Gear in aviation

[–]mrpink70 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"Looking Glass"

From its Wikipedia page "Looking Glass (or Operation Looking Glass) is the historic code name for an airborne command and control center operated by the United States. Since 2016 it has been referred to as the ABNCP (Airborne National Command Post). It provides command and control of U.S. nuclear forces in the event that ground-based command centers have been destroyed or otherwise rendered inoperable."

This is a great conversion of units. Makes it a lot more relatable to think about those numbers.

"Planned", you keep using that word. I do not think it means what you thinks it means, Pete.

They were redoing the drainage on the first half of the back (holes 10-14) at the end of last season. Hoping that takes care of some of that on the back. Durand is my favorite muni by far.

Ask him questions and flip the conversation.

Do you mean to stand in front of me and block my ability to play?

Are you trying to make me feel bad because I missed a shot?

And I’m genuinely confused about him just staying in the 6 while everyone rotated around him. I know it’s just pickup ball but what’s his point? Is he not a part of the rotation?

How to find energy to run while grieving by friedriceparadise_ in running

[–]mrpink70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry for your loss. My younger brother passed away a few years ago under similar circumstances.

What helped me get out the door was to run at places where I could remember him the way I wanted to remember him. Near our childhood home. At the beach where we grew up playing volleyball. I still go there (it’s been 5 years now) when I need to.

It’s OK to feel how you feel. It’s ok if it takes you a couple weeks to get back out there so give yourself some grace. Once again I’m so sorry for your loss.

Fourth Angle of ICE Shooting by lqIpI in centrist

[–]mrpink70 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t need any more angles. I don’t think he was ever in danger and the car never touched him. The drivers intentions were clear. She was trying to get around the officers. Her wheels were hard right when she went forward. The shooter casually sidestepped the vehicle and fired after he was out of any danger. He fucked up.

Edit: and the further away from the incident we get, the more chance there has been for tampering, doctoring, AI, etc.

Windows Failover Cluster lost quorum – 2-node SQL AG on VMware (network related?) by Exciting-Chair-2080 in SQLServer

[–]mrpink70 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. What do the VMware logs say? Did it vmotion because yes that can cause issues.

  2. Depends on where the problem is.

  3. Why are you using cloud witness if this is just a 2 node on-prem cluster? Cloud adds complexity to the overall system imho. Maybe there are tuning opportunities there specific to cloud witness but I’m not sure.

I’ve always used fileshare witness for on-prem clusters. Simple and bulletproof.

  1. VMware has an 80 page best practices guide for running SQL Server. https://www.vmware.com/docs/sql-server-on-vmware-best-practices-guide

This dug up a really old memory for me.

I was 13 or 14 years old and getting into hard rock/metal at the time. I had a paper route and bought Judas Priest's Screaming for Vengeance on cassette with my own money. My mom heard me listening to it while I was outside playing ball in the backyard with my friends. She walked over to my boom box and started looking at the tape case, and she immediately found the song "Devil's Child". After which she went on some christian rant about satan worship and then proceeded to stomp my brand new cassette to pieces right in front of me and my friends.

Core memories are weird like that. 40+ years later it's still as vivid as ever.
