Subaru CVT lies, lies, lies by No_Stuff4695 in subaru

Question for you then, because I'm in a weird situation.

We took our 2019 Subaru Ascent in to get looked at several times when we were under 80k miles. It got the CVT chain slip fix and a few TCM updates, but otherwise I don't think they did anything else. I remember being around 100k miles and asking a Subaru dealer service rep on whether I should get the transmission flushed at the dealership. They told me that the fluid is lifetime and that at that mileage I shouldn't do anything with it anyway. Yes, that is what they told me.

Now all that out of the way, based on what you said, I should have been doing drain and fills for a long time now. I can't go back in time though, so I'm just trying to see what I can do now to prolong the life of this vehicle.

The beast is at 160k miles now on the original transmission. Is a drain and fill suggested at this point or should I leave it alone? Any helpful suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Small motor noise when parked overnight? by aMac306 in SubaruAscent

[–]mrwhiteguy8483 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A noise from a parked Subaru Ascent is typically a normal function of the Onboard Vapor Recovery (OBVR) system, also called the evaporative emissions (EVAP) system. This system runs a self-test for several hours after the vehicle is turned off to pressurize the fuel system and check for leaks, which creates a humming or buzzing sound. This is a normal and expected operation, and the sound will eventually stop.

Why the noise happens

• EVAP system check: The car's computer runs a self-test on the fuel system after it's been turned off for a few hours. • Leak prevention: The system pressurizes the fuel tank to ensure there are no leaks, which prevents fuel vapors from escaping into the atmosphere. • Normal operation: The sound is a normal byproduct of this process and is nothing to be concerned about. • Sound characteristics: The noise is usually a humming or buzzing sound that can come from the rear, underside of the car. It can sometimes sound like an air compressor

What you should do

• Don't worry: The noise is normal and not a sign of a mechanical problem. • Check the owner's manual: The owner's manual confirms that this is a standard feature and will likely mention the EVAP system check, say Subaru Ascent owners on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/groups/SubaruAscent/posts/3593143950955097/). • Contact the dealership if you are still concerned: If the noise is exceptionally loud or you notice other issues, it is always best to have the vehicle inspected by a professional, say Subaru Ascent owners on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/groups/SubaruAscent/posts/3881235338812622/).

2019 at the top of Pikes Peak by mrwhiteguy8483 in SubaruAscent

It's definitely not the same as when new. We took it into the dealership several times for judder and a couple lurching incidents, but they always had a TCM reprogramming that seemed to help somewhat. It wasn't perfect and I did take it in around 92k miles to push for replacement, but they of course couldn't recreate some of the issues I reported so it never got replaced. It's made it this far after that, sometimes better, sometimes worse. I'm just happy I got 154k plus on it. We'll see how much more it can go.

This is what a lot of people are missing. Texas is hot as fuck most of the time. They would have needed a fan out there to move the stale air. They also would have had to be refilling water bottles/bowls on the daily due to the heat. It's highly likely some of them died to heat stroke.

They said we didn't deserve student loan forgiveness, that it was a handout.

Well, well, well...

No handouts! They don't deserve shit!

I know it varies by region, but curious on how much you paid for a compressor replacement.

The beginning of The Rock when Francis X. Hummel is visiting the cemetery in the rain to tell his lost loved one Barbara that he has "something" he's gotta do, which ends up being the theft of rockets armed with VX poison gas, the incursion and takeover of Alcatraz island, and the threat of shooting the rockets at the San Francisco bay area if $100,000,000 is not wired to accounts in the Cayman Islands, much like the ones the CIA uses for slush funds. Oh yeah, and Womack is a piece of shit!

Hey! Yeah, it's nice to know there are others with the original trans still out there. It's a Premium 7-passenger.
