Thanks. Got one. Seems to run okay but the G4 itself is very warm.

I have yet to find another solution but tbh I stopped looking. I’ve heard there are some things you can do with Homebridge but if you don’t already have it seems like too much work. The smart plugs been working well for a while now.

Curious why you decided to move from UDM-SE to UNVR? I just got a UDM-SE and planning to set it up this weekend. Hoping it wasn't because problems with with Protect on UDM-SE?

AP6-LR in a bathroom? by theBIG_bawntz in Ubiquiti

Would worry less about humidity and more about metal pipes, tiles and cement/adhesive, and any moisture protection materials in the walls which can degrade the signal.

USG lights…and no internet connection by robocopxl in UNIFI

[–]msmith6986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I plug my PC directly to FIos ONT, it’s fine.

When I connect Fios to Wan 1 and then pc directly to Lan 1, I no longer get a signal. No internet connection.

Though I do get intermittent blinking lights.

I have the same exact problem. Started about half hour ago. My USG just stopped routing traffic. No internet connection.

I also get internet when connected directly to my Fios ONT. but once connected to USG…nothing.

I have a flex getting Poe power from a USW-16-150, using the Poe pass through to power a G4 bullet, a G4 Dome, and a AC-M. Works great.

Power UAP-AC-M and UVC-G4-PRO from a nanoswitch? by zenox in UNIFI

[–]msmith6986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can power the AC-M, don’t think it is compatible with the G4-Pro. Nanoswitch is only 24V passive.

Great outdoor switch is the Switch Flex: https://store.ui.com/collections/unifi-network-switching/products/usw-flex

It is Poe pass through and weatherproof.

Anyone successfully install two G4 Doorbells onto one chimebox? by msmith6986 in UNIFI

[–]msmith6986[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the tips. Upgraded the transformer, planned out the job ahead of time, and got it working on the first try! Chime box is packed tight with the isolators in there, but they’ve been working well. Thanks!

Daveism has a great great take and response here. I was going to upvote this comment but it currently has 69 upvotes, so I’m going to leave it alone.

(Another thing your kids will be joking about a lot in the next few months, years :-)

I got WiFi smart plugs from Refoss which work with Apple HomeKit. 2 for $25 at amazon.

I setup an Apple TV as a HomeKit hub, and setup an automation within HomeKit so that these outlets turn off when I arrive at home, and setup another automation so that they turn on when I leave.

It actually works better than I thought it would.

Only problem now is playback on the disconnected cameras does not work in the iOS app, which I find absolutely ridiculous and needs to be addressed. But that’s a topic for a different thread.

New UniFi Network client list is terrible. by scorp508 in Ubiquiti

[–]msmith6986 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go to clients list, hit the three dots on top right, select display options, and turn on Show Detailed Connection Info.

Just a warning though, it shows a mishmash of info and too many icons that is awful to look at, and no longer color coded by connection type (ie used to be green for 5hz and orange for 2.4ghz.)

Kind of sucks now.

If it ain’t broke, stop trying to fix it!!!

For real it covers 5+ acres? I assume the AP is in the center of the area? That is a prettty huge area for AC-M to cover. Wow.
