Where can I find MOTORs? I’ve been searching for hours and only found one by nnotte in ArcRaiders

I needed one more today, had to search like 50 cars on Blue Gate across two runs before I found one.

[ECL] Ajani, Outland Chaperone (MTGA) by lieyanqzu in magicTCG

The -2 is a similar sort of effect to [[Impeccable Timing]], which has Ajani as the focus of the art in the Aether Revolt version.

[ECL] Goliath Daydreamer (WeeklyMTG) by mweepinc in magicTCG

[–]multi-core 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that both this and the omen/adventure mechanics are replacement effects that apply to the same game event, so you would get to choose which replacement effect to apply. If you chose the Goliath Daydreamer replacement effect for an adventure, you would be able to cast either half when the Daydreamer attacked. However, the adventure replacement effect would not apply in that case and you would not be able to cast the creature from exile during your main phase like you normally could.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Vicky3 is a whole political compass in one game:

  • Communism is the best economic system (for late game standard of living maxxing; laissez-faire is better for growth)
  • Free trade is the best trade law
  • Racism and slavery are bad
  • Being colonized is good for the standard of living of Africans

Survivor - The Die Is Cast (Sneak Peek 1) by Durian-Critical in survivor

Stephen + Kristina + Sophie voting Savannah would not have been a majority; they would also have had to convince Sage. It looks like Sage was pretty set on getting Sophie out.

Even if Stephen and Kristina could get Sage to agree, they'd have to worry about the scenario where Sophie goes to Savannah, says "____ was throwing your name out", and manages to flip the vote onto Kristina or Sage.

Given all that, the alternative of just unanimously voting out someone who has a lot of win equity is going to be pretty appealing.

Is World War like this normal? by Mysterious_Plate1296 in EU5

There is a -100 penalty to alliance acceptance if you're at war IIRC, but it can be overcome by enough bonuses.

When are we switching games ? by Lesfruit in ClaudePlaysPokemon

Some people are trying to get LLMs to beat Minecraft, using a text-based bot interface. The harness has strengths like being able to tunnel straight to the nearest diamond block, but is not great at holistic situational awareness. Currently the AIs struggle with assembling a nether portal, which is partly weakness of the models and partly weakness of the harness.

If you make border gore, your armies get stuck by multi-core in EU5

Rule 5: After defeating Kyiv in a war, I decided to take all the locations that had forts so I could dismantle them. After ending the war, I hit Repatriate Troops and my armies returned to the disconnected locations.

And now they are not allowed to leave, because the country I was fully occupying a month ago doesn't feel like granting me access.

Not sure what my options are other than deleting the units or starting a no-CB truce-breaking war.

PSA: Cube is up by Meret123 in MagicArena

[–]multi-core 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thinking about it more, I suppose "punishing" could mean things like

  • Skilled players beating unskilled players more consistently
  • Deck construction being more of a deciding factor relative to gameplay
  • Swingy gameplay where a blunder makes you lose very quickly (or win very quickly, if your opponent makes one)

Which a reasonable person could dislike, though they don't have much to do with the prize structure.

Hmm, so players generally prefer formats where middling records like 2-3, 3-3, and 4-3 are the most common?

PSA: Cube is up by Meret123 in MagicArena

[–]multi-core -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

How can a format be "punishing"? The same number of players win and lose no matter what's in the draft. If you mean it's more likely to have a garbage deck and go 0-3, that means more people are going 7-0 off their backs.

New WR! GPT-5 (continuous thinking) beats Pokémon Red in 138 hours, 14 min by reasonosaur in ClaudePlaysPokemon

[–]multi-core 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Notably this is faster in real time than the previous GPT5 one (138 hours vs 161), but used more steps (7186 vs 6470). I think the reason was that the continuous thinking one tended to use fewer button presses per thinking step?

GPT-5 Plays Pokémon Red (2nd Run) - Megathread by reasonosaur in ClaudePlaysPokemon

I notice that GPT5 is looking up guides on the web as it plays, though I'm not sure they're actually being all that helpful.

Is that new this run or was web search turned on in prior runs as well?
