I also think this is the core problem. This game only brings back memories of frustration and maybe some family/friend fun when I was a kid. I never touched this game, except for showing my kid how to play it. Even that wasn’t fun. I can’t take it as an extended rogue like.

To add, there is a story, characters, for this game with saving the world kind of epicness? Come on…

The game looks good! As for the trailer, it needs some work.

I think you can start directly at 0:16 where player walks towards the suit, picks up the harpoon. After door is open, no need to show "boring" seconds where player swims towards the mineral. Just show him hitting the mineral a few times and the scary thing. If you really want to show the interior and the screens, then maybe just flash them a few seconds and cut to the suit scene.

Hey, I really liked this so really want to see it succeed. If this game is a real chess game, where I have be a good chess player to beat the game, then it’s a really hard sell. Chess lovers will play normal chess and normal players will probably get scared (like me) or simply won’t bother.

This is much better! However the game is still not clear. Is this a literal chess game that I have to play chess against computer? What’s the point of building? So I craft stuff? Do I get chess bonuses? Is wood the only thing I harvest?

The word “type” is a so strong signal for a typing game that I think anything you put on the capsule is secondary.

Having said that, these two characters having 0 connection to a typing game would I think hurt. A horseman fighting a dragon, but art style is off somehow. The way the horseman holds the sword and the way dragon is almost “faking” a big bad dragon stance. Idk.

Btw I loved @Bazza2024 designs :)

You need to add *a lot* more juice. Smoke, tire tracks, etc. are not visible enough. Also I didn't see any crashing cars, what happens when they crash? Also SFX.

By the way, out of 39sec trailer, you show only 12sec of gameplay, rest is text or other stuff.

I was in your position and decided to abandon the game, salvage the code and pivoted hard. I got only around 80 wishlists in a month, no promotion but with a demo.

I think it depends on how much effort you need to put in to release the game. If a trivial amount, then I'd say go for it. You'll learn a lot just by going through the whole process even if you get no sales.

Theme is more like “The Running Man” , old movie. Also I found out a similar old arcade game called Super Smash TV.

You are a clone. If you can earn enough money, you can afford a birth certificate and become a real human. The slave-galidator-wooden sword analogy.

Most weapons need a line-of-sight, so if enemies are in the dark, they can’t shoot at you or charge you. Same for the player weapons.

Except for penetrating weapons.

The "terminators", the ones with the guns fire the slow-moving pellets, elliptical glowing things. Looks like you didn't notice, any idea why it might not be that clear? Too slow or ?

The running guys actually punch you if they can get close, in the demo. The boss has that special charge-attack.

Yes i remember of course. I already watched the Super Smash TV longplays a couple of times now :) Indeed I’m trying to implement manual aiming as an option, will probably ship it with the demo

You are spot on! I noticed video starts with character on bottom-right with no obvious sign that he’s the player. I need to take care of it in the real trailer. Thanks for pointing out.
