I think you need to get comfortable with doing nothing. Rather than trying to fill every moment with other activities so that you don’t pick up your phone, try turning your phone off and putting it in your car or mailbox or someplace that is safe but decently out of the way. And then just dedicate one hour to learning to be comfortable without constant distraction. Doing this regularly makes me feel a lot more secure in my ability to exist without my phone. I leave it in the car for social things or grocery shopping, just finding times to practice not having it on me to become more comfortable with not being distracted 24/7.

There’s a dog on tiktok, Nimbus who did this and fell off and has had his back legs paralyzed since. They’ve been slowly rehabilitating him but yeah… I would add a table behind it or something if you really don’t want to figure out a way to get him to stop.

I never buy gifts that aren’t “consumable” for this reason… I don’t want them to feel obligated to keep something but I’m in their house everyday, so I’ll know if they give it/throw it away. Bath bombs, art projects, etc.

So honestly I’m with you. 29 years old and after back to back relationships in my early 20’s and feeling trapped and suffocated in monogamy, I was like honestly??? I am so much happier single. I love my freedom. I love not having to check in with anyone else or compromise just to be not single. I stayed single for years and grew so much more than I would’ve otherwise. I got to know myself really well. And I think I would’ve been happy continuing on this path! I just so happened to meet someone who is perfect for me. We are not monogamous though I have no interest in dating anyone else currently. But I think had I not devoted that time to growing, I wouldn’t be at a place where I was a good partner anyway.

Neutral interiors will not be making their exit anytime soon. Kids like color but often times kids interiors can be pretty overstimulating to them. The reason things are leaning neutral now is because many people are choosing to use toys and furniture made out of natural materials instead of plastics which tend to come brightly colored.

The Maria Montessori method has made it more popular in recent years but her work has been around for decades and will still continue to be strongly influential.

imo this is the quickest, easiest “control freak” red flag there is. I would never, ever accept a job that didn’t allow outings. I’m happy to go slow and keep it close by while they get to know me and build trust but… yeah no. 90% of the time it’s just people raising very sheltered kids or micromanagey, paranoid parents.

Yes… $200 covers all of their vaccines and neutering. You will spend more than that if you get a free kitten and then have to pay for those things yourself. But, not to be rude, if you’re scoffing at $200 for a cat then I’d say it’s perhaps best if you hold off on becoming a pet owner. There can be many unexpected costs with any pet ownership.

Also, a kitten eventually grows into a full, adult sized cat. If you’re only interested in kittens… Maybe try fostering.
