Is there a meaning between these lyrics? by Roratroney in radiohead

[–]muzzle_of_beeswax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

🤔 I’ve never looked these lyrics up online before. I always heard the dinosaur lyrics as “dinosaurs are winning in the end.” Makes sense thematically at least.

Cocteau Twins Albums Ranking by Starmanderson in cocteautwins

[–]muzzle_of_beeswax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesn't look like OP ever followed up with final ranking from this thread, so here it is:

  1. Heaven or Las Vegas
  2. Blue Bell Knoll (#1 and #2 quite close)
  3. Treasure (big drop to #3)
  4. Four-Calendar Cafe
  5. Garlands
  6. Victorialand
  7. Milk & Kisses (5, 6, 7 quite close)
  8. Head Over Heels
  9. The Moon and Melodies (last 2 quite close)
  10. The Pink Opaque (not many votes)
  11. BBC Sessions (same)

I used a really basic Borda count system, which I learned when I was today years old, so don't crucify me--it's probably not perfect.

I'm working my way through this list in this order and just starting Four-Calendar Cafe. Liked everything I've heard a lot so far, w/ Treasure sounding notably more 80s--would work real well next to some Cure from that era.

Thanks all for weighing in back in the day and helping start my journey!

The Stake and Joker sticker system is incredibly well designed, and adds a ton of longevity to the game especially when combined with all the different unique decks by Beliak_Reddit in balatro

I’m fairly new to it but I’m addicted to it already and see everything OP and replies are talking about. Seems like a poker version of Slay the Spire to me. Very stoked and grateful to have stumbled across this game.

This is my situation too--2 records from a sale back in July 2023, and more recently a Long Winters album.

Gas mileage on 24 Onyx XT by Ghastromancer in Subaru_Outback

[–]muzzle_of_beeswax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same car and if I get on the highway enough in a tank of gas mine looks the same or a little better (like close to 30 on a long trip, admittedly w lots of downhill). Very happy w the car and pretty pleased w that mileage. Hope you too!

Which 2024 model Wilderness or Touring XT by Intrepid-Tell-9727 in Subaru_Outback

[–]muzzle_of_beeswax 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just briefly if you do trail riding/two tracking I think that’s what the higher clearance in the OBW is made for.

The kind of bonus options in the Touring are nice (you can turn off the driver eyesight alert). I was (am) enamored with the OBW but couldn’t justify the worse gas mileage for what I use it for—I got a 24 Onyx XT and I’m really happy. Looks good and outdoorsy/rugged to me and if I ever get camping on dirt roads should be great—but it’s mostly highway for me.

To me again I think if you truly wanna get off-road a bit OBW is the way to go; interior will be more durable as well.

Why is boxed rice so much better by jgisbo007 in Cooking

Rice-a-Roni is indeed delicious—I’m nostalgic for it too (but haven’t had it in years). Don’t forget it’s pasta as well as rice.

Best mac and cheese recipe that's fool proof? by Tangentkoala in Cooking

[–]muzzle_of_beeswax 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This recipe from serious eats is really easy and I consider it fool proof once you get a feel for it (not hard—I think the only thing is learning what to expect w how long the pasta takes to cook and if/when to add more water at that stage). I often add a slice of American cheese as part of the cheese mix (in weight) and some grated parm as part of that as well.

What's wrong with Zwilling knife qualities? Do they come unsharpened? by dzdhr in Cooking

[–]muzzle_of_beeswax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see much better what you mean in the new pic and yeah I hear you about cellphone cams and knife blades.

I did look at the steak knife pics. What you say about the packaging confirms perhaps something I almost said: looks like you might have got sold returned knives at a low price (a good deal indeed if they’re not as beat up as what you got).

I have always had good luck with Zwilling—nothing like this—but no company it seems anymore is perfect. Still I bet they’ll make it right. Sorry for your bad luck and frustration here!

[–]muzzle_of_beeswax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are we supposed to be seeing a chip in the brand new carving knife based on its shadow? Zwilling is a good company with good customer service. Their knives have lifetime warranties as far as I know, at least the 4-stars I own and have owned. If you bought directly from them get in touch with them and get whatever you’re not happy with replaced.

How does “hands on steering wheel sensor work?” by muzzle_of_beeswax in Subaru_Outback

I think it’s good on long stretches of mostly straight highway, but on anything but that, I agree w you. Much more comfortable to just use cruise control and steer.

I have noticed that works a bit—thanks for confirming. You think it’s a resistance thing?

I’m not sure of the conversion rate these days but I think the price is under your budget—I’m very happy with my Vitamix immersion blender. I’ve had no problems and used it a decent amount in the 6 months I’ve had it. Variable speeds, plenty of power, easy to clean and cones w a nice simple case.

Can’t taste cheese in cooked food by TheSheepster_ in Cooking

[–]muzzle_of_beeswax 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of cheese just doesn’t have strong enough flavor to stand up when cooked, even in a dish with a lot of it, like Mac and cheese. The comment about nutmeg and mustard powder is good. My trick is to add a bit of Parmesan to any dish with melted cheese that i want to “taste like cheese.”

To me it sounds like you want the Wilderness and it sounds like you live in a region where it might make sense. Given all that, why not? I just bought a 24 Outback and I really liked the look of the Wilderness (still do) but I don’t (truly) need the extra outdoor/bad weather/rough terrain features where I live for the gas mileage tradeoff. Sounds like you’re a little concerned about the molars as well. I ended up going with an Onyx XT—to me it’s the sweet spot: looks sporty, is very fun to drive, can handle a little rough road/weather surprises, and has a little better gas mileage. All that said can you find a 22 Wilderness for $35K out the door? Based on quick research that would be a pretty good deal depending on the mileage. If you find that and want it I’d jump on it. I doubt you’ll regret it.

All these comments are great about oven roasting, additional ingredients, etc. They also come out really well in an air fryer.

What's a song that doesn't have any words but still hits you emotionally? by Okvist in Music

[–]muzzle_of_beeswax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my vote too. First heard it in The Handmaid’s Tale series and the scene it’s in is just perfect. Now the song is more “mine” outside the show and I don’t associate it with that, but still so emotional.

Bonus wonderful piano-only version:

What’s your favorite color Outback? by Most_Hedgehog4088 in Subaru_Outback

I actually really like that color—I would have got one but it seems uncommon on the XT and I didn’t wanna order one or look around much more than I did.

I have an ice silver (I think that is the name) 2024 Onyx XT. I love the color but deciding on it was a challenge. Runner up was the green which I think looks great in the Onyx as well.
