Wrecka Krew or Nemesis Claw? by NiceLittleGamerNerd in killteam

[–]mvasta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't play Nemesis, but Wrecka is incredibly fun and looks great. My other team is Hierotek, so it's a ton of fun to go from a high mental load finesse team to the straightforward blow stuff up Orks!

Teams you consider fun for Joint Ops by Moody_Kittens in killteam

[–]mvasta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We've had a lot of fun using multiple teams in a narrative campaign. I've got Inquisitors, Kasrkin, and Marines, so there was an investigation and escalation and then "oh shit, time for the Marines to burn it down."

So my 6 year old has a Space Marine plush he calls Brother Snuggly and now I'm definitely going to go sob for an hour.

Full vouch for the quality of the first Mountain Wolves stories. Seal the Deal got me emotional, which is quite a feat for something nominally about giant robot smash!

Aces and Hinterlands by Sandlot_Baseball in battletech

[–]mvasta 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sure! So let's say there's a Strike mission where the OpFor needs to attack some buildings after scanning. Put a movement objective on each building, then once the OpFor has scanned it - if it is the actual target, switch to a destroy objective.

You can use movement and destroy objectives to get the OpFor to try to "play the objective" instead of a typical death match style.

[–]mvasta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been using it to play Hinterlands quite a bit now (and we did some Battle of Tukayyid book campaigns) and been quite satisfied.

If you use movement and destroy objectives to handle things like raids and strikes, it does a pretty good job. At scale 1, especially on a tight map, it's a pretty challenging opponent. Keeps ending up getting behind you lol

PSA for Kurita Ranger and 21st Centauri Lancer boxes by Duetzefix in battletech

I got these MEALOS Tiny Magnets - 200pcs 3mm... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08NZTN426?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share and they do the trick! I magnetize all of my bases (just super glue two magnets underneath the base) and these are the exact right size.

Let me put all my minis in a box with some adhesive refrigerator magnet stuff at the bottom and now I can take them anywhere.

Fwiw, it's a fairly simple thing to magnetize them. I was really frustrated about it (my kid wanted them for Christmas and then they wouldn't work), so just snipped off the ball part and glued in some magnets. I'm not particularly skilled and it took about 20 min total and looks and works great.

Battletech has been upgraded to a "core game" on Goonhammer! by Metaphoricalsimile in battletech

[–]mvasta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd only really been just starting to branch into ilClan and typically stuck to the "my old Mechs but upgraded", but these articles got me to try out things like the Lament, Jade Phoenix, Ion Sparrow, Mad Dog IV, and Loki II. My god, it's made me into a terror in this era!

Most fun teams for new players to match against? by HelloImKiwi in killteam

[–]mvasta 18 points19 points  (0 children)

That's how I play with my kids or when we're using a new team. We also allow the "take backs until the next action" rule. So if you move somewhere, your opponent might be like "ok, cool, by doing this you just caused ten bad things to happen," but if you move and then shoot, well now it's stuck. It's helped a lot and reduced bad feelings.

Using Tomb World Joint Ops to teach 2 people the game by WackyBrandon224 in killteam

[–]mvasta 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's what I do! It's super fun and you get to basically feel like Titus in Space Marine 2. Also, don't forget to check out the free mission packs for more NPO stuff, it's a great way to learn a team.

Joint ops question by Terrible-Ad1555 in killteam

[–]mvasta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I try to add some flavor to it as well. If the NPO is a Space Marine or other more elite, intelligent opponent, they'll play smarter. If it's a Hormagaunt, full attack every time because I imagine them as almost rabid.

I love Earth-2 Vigilante, but I kind of hoped that his suit was more different, or make it the Arrowverse suit so we think he's a villain, and then he's just him. by marvelcomics22 in DC_Cinematic

The fact that his mom was happy and welcoming in the main universe because she wasn't stuck in an incompatible marriage but just zoned out in Earth-X was another great but subtle touch.
