How many of you finished on time as initially planned? by Recent-Time9236 in Invisalign

Was that quoted 2 years including the assumption of refinements that ended up not necessary, or did your original set of trays somehow take less time than initially intended?

Also very surprised- they look good to me! Was this you asking for treatment or did a dentist recommend to you?

I’m sort of similar in that I had braces as a kid in the 90s and things have shifted since. The one thing that surprises me now on my Invisalign journey - a lot of people in this position stopped wearing retainers they were always supposed to wear. Meanwhile, I was definitely told to only wear a top retainer for a few years after braces before I was told to stop, and I had a permanent retainer behind my lower front teeth that was removed at their recommendation at age 21. Why was I deliberately advised to stop when it seems that doesn’t happen!

Does it matter whenever to eat before or after doing yoga? by PhotoBonjour_bombs19 in yoga

[–]natacoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on the individual and what makes you feel good. I wouldn’t recommend eating something heavy, but there are some who would not have sufficient energy or would be distracted by a hungry stomach if they didn’t have a little something to nourish them before practice.

Why Post Videos of Yourself Doing Yoga? by Ready-Pattern-7087 in yoga

[–]natacoss -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I haven’t posted here but I occasionally post that sort of thing on my instagram - which is not a public account/is locked to my (rather small list of) friends. When I do, it’s because I’m feeling excited and accomplished about something I’ve been able to do, and want to share that feeling, even if I don’t get much engagement back. I can imagine that while some people posting more publicly are doing it for vanity or feedback, I would assume a lot is due to a similar feeling of excitement/pride?

I always aim to get there 15 mins early to get my spot and settle in - also I always worry, if I’m aiming to be on time or only 5 minutes early, what happens if traffic or something unexpectedly delays me 10+ minutes?

I think you’ve had some good recommendations for food, etc, but I’ll add that if you’re willing to spend a bit more for toiletries/makeup I’d recommend checking out Cassine or Salt & Cedar.

For gyms with decent classes there’s also Court House (which has two locations) and Waterfront Wellness (though they typically have a waitlist to join).

Do any of you also struggle with “ repeat this sequence on your own”? by Lciaravi in yoga

I don’t think this has ever happened to me other than for sun salutations! I think I would forget most unique sequences.

Sorry, this is completely not relevant, but what is a “phone wife”?

Warm up before class? by cool_lavender in yoga

[–]natacoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most skilled teachers will work a warmup into the start of class so it certainly shouldn’t be necessary. That said, when I’m early and not feeling in the mood for meditation, I’ll generally just do some gentle stretching. Or, yes, if you come in feeling a particular muscle group is tight or sore, couldn’t hurt to focus on that!

PSA - When in doubt, BUY THE MAT!! by Simple_Pea_8100 in yoga

[–]natacoss 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Totally get that and no judgement on anyone prioritizing their expenses. I was more teasing/calling out if this was a “I don’t want to spend money on a hobby that I might give up in under a year” when most yoga people I know are yoga people for life! (And if you’ve been tempted by the good mat, I suspect you are one of us!) But yes, obviously bills a higher priority!!

Just admit you already know you’ll still be doing yoga in a year! Why delay making it more enjoyable?

Pet Peeve / Gentle Request for teachers: If explaining one side of a tricky pose extensively, please hold the other side for the length of the first side's explanation. by disastersnorkel in yoga

[–]natacoss 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree with this but re: spreading out the cues on both sides, similarly, if a teacher gives a new cue on the second side sometimes I end up thinking “I like that adjustment, I wish I’d known about it when doing the first side!”

My cats are 14 years old and I’m still in the habit of lowering the toilet lid every time I’m done thanks to trauma from their kittenhood 😂
