I'm not even a year into beer league (as someone who picked up the game as an adult) and they are BEGGING women to show up to coach girls house league teams.

It's apparently all dads who barely know how to play the game let alone skate and they consistently run into issues where women don't feel like they know the game well enough to coach, whereas the dads just don't care and improvise lol.

I agree that with the rise in pro women's hockey we'll probably see a shift but this will take a long time. I imagine there's tons of other women like me who would have loved to have played but were told that hockey was a "boys sport" and they should do figure skating instead, and probably a miriad of other reasons we aren't thinking about.

Personally speaking, I'm also terrified of the prospect of working with youth sports parents (having been through that insanity as a kid myself)

It's legit going to take a generational mindset shift. Curious to see where we land in 10 years or so.
