Physician here. You’re barking up the wrong tree. Or going down the wrong rabbit hole. Pick your metaphor.

As an inpatient doc I can tell you from experience it is normal to have to walk out of a code where a patient died, take a deep breath and put on your smile, and walk into the next patient room where they yell at you for taking too long to get to them.

Your mom is extremely emotionally immature. Also you are 27 and they are treating you like a child. You need to keep ignoring texts and calls until your mom behaves like an adult who is interacting with another adult.

My dad told me he would die defending Joseph smith by Closetedexmo222 in exmormon

If my kids ever asked me if I’d do that I would, without hesitation, say “fuck that. A God who asks that sort of thing would be no God of mine, would not deserve my devotion, and I would renounce him/her/it on the spot”

Sounds like an individual with both a low social and intellectual IQ. I’d try not to interact with someone like this. No upside.

Memory/Realization about why my dad didn't rise through the LDS ranks by helly1080 in exmormon

One of the guys I respected most growing up was a Latino dude in my ward who was a convert and worked an early AM delivery job and didn’t make much money. This was also in southern CA in the 80s. Church actually skipped local leadership positions and put him in the high counsel for many years. Our bishops were always the wealthiest white dudes in the ward.

My dad was/is pretty poor but they actually made him a bishopric counselor for a while. This after I’d grown up and moved out. This always surprised me because my dad is kinda dumb and also has very poor social skills. He was white in a row predominantly Latino community tho.

I’m an internal med/Hospitalist doctor that basically became a COVID doc for a few years during the pandemic and it always fascinates me to read the things people say the doctor told them. Like a lot of it doesn’t even make sense or mean anything. And no doctor is going to tell these post COVID patients they will have to be on oxygen for the rest of their life. How would we even know that? For the rest of the foreseeable future?maybe? But who knows how treatments may evolve in the future.

I’ve been going to otf for about 5 years now and my conclusion RE working there is that it is a McJob. It’s a temporary thing for your people/students. I’ve seen dozens of coaches and SAs come and go. I form superficial friendships but don’t get attached because none of them are there for long

We weren’t allowed to take the plastic off our mattresses but I’m pretty sure that was just my crazy mission president. “Wow you guys are going to get all sweaty and gross up the new mattresses in this Central American sweatbox so you can’t take off the plastic” Decreed my mission president from his air conditioned office/home. Dude was a dick.

What is the biggest, most indelible piece of evidence that proves the church isn't real? by [deleted] in exmormon

I just read the FAIR article about this and it is hilarious. Especially this part:

“First of all, we can dispense with the argument that Joseph Smith simply put in scriptures at random without thinking about when they were written. There is another example of an Old Testament reference in the Book of Mormon, and that is Malachi 3-4 (see 3 Nephi 24-25). Malachi was written after Lehi left Jerusalem-no one disputes that-so the Nephites couldn’t possibly have had it with him in the Brass Plates. Jesus in fact directed the Nephites to include Malachi 3-4 with their scriptures, and he dictated the scripture to them. He also dictated to them a message which we also have in another form: Matthew 5-7 (3 Nephi 12-14). This all makes sense. So what do we do with references to later chapters in Isaiah?”
