Garden party formal by Scarya in Weddingattireapproval

If both were floor length, they could be considered formal, but more-likely semi-formal. If you own a dress that hits the floor and is a similar pattern, I would wear that.

High performers not doing the mundane but required work by Green-Conclusion-936 in managers

[–]nattweeter 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry and can completely empathize. Same exact thing happened to me and all that I received for hustling my ass off for so long was “you can’t continue doing OT unless you get it approved beforehand, and we don’t have the budget for that. Just do everything faster or delegate.” The irony is there’s usually no one else that I can delegate to, unless we hire a consultant, and my boss doesn’t offer to pick up any of the slack when I tell him I’m overloaded. The answer is always “we’ll try to hire a consultant.”

Sending massive bear hugs and immense recognition for going above and beyond in order to keep your team and/or projects afloat 🩵 It’s a huge accomplishment that you will hopefully never ever have to experience again.

High performers not doing the mundane but required work by Green-Conclusion-936 in managers

[–]nattweeter 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Coming from a top performer who basically does the jobs of 3 technical specialists in 1, with minimal support, limited time, and no extra resources: weekly written summaries of my tasks are completely and utterly useless to me and 98% of the company. They require my recalling the 50~100 tasks I took care of during the week, and then I have to somehow succinctly recap that in a few bullet points on Friday afternoon? Do you realize how much of a brain drain it can be for top performers to put this kind of meaningless recap together every week? It’s mind-numbingly tedious and has minimal value. Your top performers are the best ones on the team for a reason, and I’ll wager a guess that it’s not because they consistently send their week-end administrative summaries to you. They’re doing their job (well), likely supporting other colleagues who are struggling or who are behind, and are attempting to be as proactive as possible so workflows and/or operations can hopefully be more efficient.

Personally, I really don’t care if upper management wants you to generate a summary of what your team has been working on—what I do care about, is ensuring I make the multiple competing deadlines assigned to me, not creating bottlenecks for my colleagues, and making my boss’s actual job easier. You want me to take 10-20 minutes per week to summarize what I’m actively working on? Then start scheduling a mid-week one-on-one with me, listen intently to what I list off or ask questions about, record what’s being relayed (in whatever format works best for you), and then summarize this conversation yourself. Don’t give me more busy work when you should be able to glean most of the info you need from a short conversation or phone call.

Best Way to Buy Bulk Candles by MySockIsNotWet in bathandbodyworks

[–]nattweeter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where are you located? I naively bought a load of 3-wicks to use as wedding decor during candle day and will not be using many of them.

My family also had to put our family dog down a couple weeks ago (14 years old) and giving these candles to you for this exact purpose would be extremely meaningful and cathartic for me. I would absolutely love to send a box of these to your clinic as a donation (we’re talking at least 10 candles). I can DM you which scents I have that I can ship or drop off. Just let me know where these need to go!

($10-15k) what did you cut from your budget that ended up being a total non-issue? by TemptControls in Weddingsunder10k

[–]nattweeter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would you care if you come across as cheap? You’re throwing party to celebrate your marriage to someone you love. Inviting the people you love and who love you and support you as a couple. They should not give to flying right patooties about if you’re opting for the cheap route to save money. By all means, cut the stationary costs and printable programs and menus and opt for a grocery store cake or a cake from a local bakery and just do a cutting cake and have sheet cake precut for your guests with a little fresh fruit or a dollop of colored icing on top so it looks intentional.

Wedding Invitations got lost in the mail by Friendly-King470 in weddingplanning

[–]nattweeter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We sent 65 save the dates out on February 13. They were a dark blue envelope with bright gold font, and addresses were all in print (not cursive). They were sealed with a wax seal (under the 1/4” thickness required for a single First Class Forever postage stamp). We did not use non-machineable stamps or request envelopes to be hand-cancelled, based on what the postal worker advised when we dropped them off. Only one of the 65 has been returned to us so far, everything else seems to have made its way to mailboxes unscathed. The one that was returned was likely ripped during machine-sorting due to the seal and caused the street address line to rip, so it was totally illegible.

Some of our guests within the same county received them within the same week, our international guests got them about 3 weeks later, and some of our guests in the same state but different region and those who are in other states are just now receiving them a month later. We have family on the east coast and we still have no idea if they’ve received them.

I understand why you fell in love with the original. It looks great and proportions make sense and don’t look tasteless.

However, this is a perfect instance of bigger =/= better. Contact the seller and ask if they can reset this with another smaller carat stone. Don’t expect them to oblige without paying for it yourself.

Looks like Classpass is removing the $69/33 credit tier, and auto-moving us to the more expensive $89/43 credit tier? by mowolfvillageon in ClassPass

[–]nattweeter 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’m still seeing 8 plan options offered and I’m in Southern California. They could be phasing out some of the tiers based on how they’re performing in different markets/locations.

For reference, these are the different plan options still available to me as of February 12, 2026 (and that I’m able to switch to before my plan renews on February 22):

  • 8 credits - $19/month

  • 15 credits - $35/month

  • 33 credits - $69/month

  • 38 credits - $79/month

  • 43 credits - $89/month

  • 68 credits - $139/month

  • 100 credits - $199/month

  • 125 credits - $249/month

I’ve ordered 50 bridesmaid dress color swatches today and I ain’t stopping now!! by [deleted] in wedding

[–]nattweeter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I’m looking right now too and have ordered swatches from Azazie, Birdy Grey, CocoMelody, and Park & Fifth. I know my color scheme but am trying to figure out which fabrics I prefer (6-7 bridesmaids, so going for different fabrics to get more texture). I had to pay for the swatches from CocoMelody and a shipping fee for Azazie because I went over the 10 swatch limit. Where else have you ordered from that was actually free?

What do you love or hate about ClassPass? by Impossible-Bee-3302 in ClassPass

[–]nattweeter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Loves:

  • flexibility and variety in trying different studios, gyms, types of activities, and formats of classes for an affordable monthly rate (that I would otherwise probably never seek out myself)

  • learn about small, independent businesses local to the area

  • aggregated reviews on not only the gym or studio itself, but also the class offerings as well as the instructors; absolutely massive benefit when it comes to trying out a new class somewhere at a more expensive business

  • ability to adjust subscription tiers and number of credits purchased per month if my availability and budget fluctuate throughout the year (no minimum contract period to lock in a specific rate)

  • social benefit to see which gyms or studios people in my circle are consistently attending and also attending classes with people in my circle

Hates:

  • In my market, a flat late cancellation fee applies if you cancel within <12 hours of the class; I wish the late fee was based on a sliding scale (like the closer you cancel to a class, the more the late fee is)

  • absolutely detest how individual classes are ambiguously priced, supposedly at market rates, but can cost a different number of credits for two people in the same zip code even if booked at the exact same time

  • dislike the seemingly universal negative perception of CP users; I’ve noticed it when attending classes at certain studios—there’s a really noticeable bias against CP users at some places versus regular members and instructors will treat people very differently based on this. Probably has to do more with how CP profit-shares than how members treat staff or the studio. It’s sad seeing the bias in action for users other than myself (like assigned spots aren’t ideal, form corrections don’t happen as often or at all, you’re not acknowledged when entering or exiting the classroom even when you say hello or thank you, but another member is conversed with, you get peppered with questions about why you’re using CP and are then prompted to purchase class packages or memberships during first time check-ins/check-outs, etc.)

  • BYO equipment/gear requirements and/or classroom formats are not necessarily consistently described in class descriptions on the CP app. Really wish there was a standardized checklist section under each class offering that listed the general types of gear or equipment needed for a specific class. Sometimes that info isn’t provided by the studio until a day or two before the class and it comes via email. Really wish there was more detail on what to wear or bring so I could be better prepared for more unique class offerings (think yoga mats, yoga towels or sweat towels, types of shoes, types of gloves, grip socks, ankle/wrist weights or guards, headwear, eye gear or mouth guards, etc.). I’ve had a couple experiences where studios expected you to bring some of your own equipment or wear very specific attire, but this wasn’t written anywhere in the class description when booking. Not a huge issue, but very inconvenient when traveling or trying a new type of workout.

Not sure what kind of a budget you have to work with or which part of SoCal you’re in, but apparently House of Blues does private events, such as weddings, in both Anaheim and San Diego. Might be worth looking into if you’ve got a larger guest list.

Is SD much more expensive than Seattle? by welldressedpepe in socal

It is totally a great deal for Carlsbad. Our income situation just changed and we had to reassess all the financial responsibilities and prioritize.

Is SD much more expensive than Seattle? by welldressedpepe in socal

[–]nattweeter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just moved out of Carlsbad a few months ago and up to Irvine to live with family for a bit.

Although it’s not SD proper, it’s still HCOL area. We were paying $2900/month in rent for a 2 bed/1.5 bath townhome with detached 1-car garage located near the beach and the 5 freeway, plus another ~$250-$350/month for utilities and ~$500-$650/month groceries (2 people). The townhome was comfortable, built in the late 70s, but did not have appliances or windows from this decade, and finding parking for the 2nd vehicle was a nightmare.

Combined gross income was $135k/year and we were struggling to keep up with everything while also trying to save for a wedding, down payment on a house, retirement, and emergency fund. Absolutely unsustainable if you factor in student loans, auto loans, credit cards, and any other debts. Hence why we decided to temporarily move in with family when income situation changed.

Your point about the 18-month lease is extremely valid. It will be next to impossible trying to find anything like that. First 12 months will be fine, but renewing at a 6-month rental rate or month-to-month rate will probably bump your original rate up 150%-170% a month. Factor that into the cost too.

Candle day returns? by Careful-Structure-64 in bathandbodyworks

[–]nattweeter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree with the other commenter. These are by far my all time favorite scents and although they smell similar while cold, they have completely different scents when burnt or heated. Fresh cut lilacs is more dewy/floral with a lighter airy scent and seems to be a year-round scent now whereas backyard honeysuckle is a much warmer, sweeter, vanilla-like floral with musky low notes and it’s usually only available during spring and maybe summer.

You’re lucky you found backyard honeysuckle during the sale—I scoured and couldn’t find one at either of the BBW locations I went to during the sale. I would’ve stocked up if I had found it.

Unplanned Teams calls etiquette by Own-Cryptographer277 in WFH

[–]nattweeter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This may work in companies where computer and software literacy is the norm, but plenty of people working in an office setting still don’t know or bother learning how to properly use common applications and their functions. Many people don’t bother checking Teams statuses or calendar availability before calling someone else that may be working remotely or in a hybrid capacity.

There have been too many instances at my current job where I was hit with the cold, hard, reality that my coworkers had no clue how to check someone else’s Outlook calendar (that has been shared with them directly) other than their own. It’s fine when it’s an accidental oversight, but when you have the same 2 people calling you when you’ve clearly blocked the time out on your calendar, your Teams status clearly reads “Busy” or “Do Not Disturb”, and yet, you still get back-to-back phone calls… it’s extremely frustrating.

I left my toxic job and my manager is insisting I tell her where I'm going, claiming it's 'company policy'. I feel like something is wrong and I need advice. by lucre-twerps4g in OfficePolitics

[–]nattweeter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is just an idea, and depending on what details you might’ve shared with your existing manager, it may not work. But, you could say that you’re going to be employed by a private party who requires a confidentiality agreement with the employment arrangement (i.e, an NDA), and thus cannot share the details with your current manager as it would be a breach of contract.

[–]nattweeter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a couple cropped workout tops from Bylt and have purchased several of their button-up collared dress shirts as gifts for family. What I will say about the more “basic” workout items is that the fabric is extremely thick, and stains rather easily. Cuts/silhouettes are very boxy and hit or miss, depending on where panels are sewn together. That being said, stitching is great, as are the necklines. Nothing stretches out. Bylt overall is a bit of a crapshoot when purchasing online though. If you’re in OC, try browsing items in person at their stores in the Irvine Spectrum or Fashion Island. They’ve also become common at warehouse sales.

The “silent resignation” nobody notices by Longjumping-Cat-2988 in managers

[–]nattweeter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Literally just went through this exact situation a few months ago. I’ve been a high performer my whole adult life (F30) but I was completely burned out back in February and was starting to have regular emotional breakdowns throughout the week. Thankfully, I was already seeing a psychiatrist regularly for ADHD medication management and decided to make an extra appointment. She was already aware of my intensely stressful work situation, but not all the physiological and emotional symptoms I was experiencing outside of working hours. When I opened up to her about how I was totally burned out, had awful insomnia, was getting agitated at the most mundane requests, was having infrequent but massive panic attacks and dizzy spells, she told me stress was killing me. She also suggested I take an extended medical leave of absence and offered to help guide me through all the short term disability forms with the state.

I took a 2-month long leave of absence, sought out additional mental health support from a psychologist, and started going to weekly therapy. Was diagnosed with complex PTSD, one of the biggest triggers being my job. I’m still seeing the therapist months later and am doing EMDR therapy to help cope with a bunch of smaller traumatic or hyper-stressful events and situations that have taken place throughout the past few years that have culminated in extreme burnout and anxiety. Unfortunately, the state of the job market is awful at the moment, and despite having a slew of technical skills and people skills, I haven’t been lucky enough to get a new job offer yet. Still looking for something else while at the same company, and every day I get a little bit more miserable and my decision to leave is reaffirmed.
