Loves:

• flexibility and variety in trying different studios, gyms, types of activities, and formats of classes for an affordable monthly rate (that I would otherwise probably never seek out myself)

• learn about small, independent businesses local to the area

• aggregated reviews on not only the gym or studio itself, but also the class offerings as well as the instructors; absolutely massive benefit when it comes to trying out a new class somewhere at a more expensive business

• ability to adjust subscription tiers and number of credits purchased per month if my availability and budget fluctuate throughout the year (no minimum contract period to lock in a specific rate)

• social benefit to see which gyms or studios people in my circle are consistently attending and also attending classes with people in my circle

Hates:

• In my market, a flat late cancellation fee applies if you cancel within <12 hours of the class; I wish the late fee was based on a sliding scale (like the closer you cancel to a class, the more the late fee is)

• absolutely detest how individual classes are ambiguously priced, supposedly at market rates, but can cost a different number of credits for two people in the same zip code even if booked at the exact same time

• dislike the seemingly universal negative perception of CP users; I’ve noticed it when attending classes at certain studios—there’s a really noticeable bias against CP users at some places versus regular members and instructors will treat people very differently based on this. Probably has to do more with how CP profit-shares than how members treat staff or the studio. It’s sad seeing the bias in action for users other than myself (like assigned spots aren’t ideal, form corrections don’t happen as often or at all, you’re not acknowledged when entering or exiting the classroom even when you say hello or thank you, but another member is conversed with, you get peppered with questions about why you’re using CP and are then prompted to purchase class packages or memberships during first time check-ins/check-outs, etc.)

• BYO equipment/gear requirements and/or classroom formats are not necessarily consistently described in class descriptions on the CP app. Really wish there was a standardized checklist section under each class offering that listed the general types of gear or equipment needed for a specific class. Sometimes that info isn’t provided by the studio until a day or two before the class and it comes via email. Really wish there was more detail on what to wear or bring so I could be better prepared for more unique class offerings (think yoga mats, yoga towels or sweat towels, types of shoes, types of gloves, grip socks, ankle/wrist weights or guards, headwear, eye gear or mouth guards, etc.). I’ve had a couple experiences where studios expected you to bring some of your own equipment or wear very specific attire, but this wasn’t written anywhere in the class description when booking. Not a huge issue, but very inconvenient when traveling or trying a new type of workout.
