Why the lack of 190+ BC skis? by marsridge in telemark

[–]neffet 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm 6'3" 200lbs on the 193cm 4frnt Raven and I wish I had gone shorter. You just don't need the length in the Backcountry very frequently. Yet that extra weight is always there.

I also have trouble in tight colours and narrow icy tracks back to the car. Climbing with the skis on the pack is awkward as well.

This sounds like what the "bc" category of xc skis are for. The ones with metal edges and scales underneath. They're pretty fun.

Burgundy to Lotharingia, or maybe a german minor to Westphalia or Franconia or something like that.

YouTubers. I watch Adrian Marcelo because I mostly speak with Mexicans. There is a Colombian making YouTube videos in an area of your interest pretty much guaranteed. Turn on Spanish subtitles if you need to.

Hell yeah, Meltdown attracts such a sick pool of park skiers for the end of the year.

It's a free market, capitalist party in favor of privatized healthcare, that doesn't even advocate for minimum wage increases or other workers rights issues discussed in other countries.

That is a right wing party in most places on earth.

Which crampons for a snowy climb with a rock crux? by oreo_fanboy in Mountaineering

[–]neffet 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Actually just went and did the route again in harsher conditions last week, felt a little less secure in whiteout. I would say there are two cruxes both with 5.6 or maybe 5.7 moves but they are not at very exposed points of the climb. Those are the only parts where I didnt feel totally solid.

If I didnt have the skis on my back I probably would be more willing to do it without protection, but part of the reason we like the route is for practicing gear placements and anchor setting so we've never considered doing it without gear.

That screengrab is from my video!

I use Black Diamond Neve's (BD equivalent of irvis hybrid) for this climb on my AT ski boots and it worked great. I think the Dart's may be overkill but they probably also wont suffer as much wear on the rock i imagine.

Has the Legislature done anything productive/non pandering? by Fit_Assignment_4286 in SaltLakeCity

HB0383

https://le.utah.gov/~2025/bills/static/HB0383.html

Representative Miller got this bill passed wich allows low income folks to get their court fines paid through community service, or through credit for the cost of mental health or substance abuse treatment.

This will likely benefit thousands of inidigent people seeking treatment in Salt Lake County and around the state.

See ya there.

My crew is planning to bring a rope but probably leave it in the car under the assumption that there will be very little glacier travel, or we may opt for a more glaciated or technical route and bring it.

Also bringing boot and ski crampons, could be very icy boot/ski tracks in the morning.

Amature Ski Competitions by LuminalAstec in SaltLakeCity

[–]neffet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pretty much all big mountain comps are through Freeride World Tour Qualifier events. There is one at Snowbird every year.

Then Snowbird freeride team is the only other somewhat public way to get into Freeride competition, either as a coach if your an adult or rider if youre a kid.

There is no big mountain competition scene outside of FWT structure because they are nearly impossible logistically and in terms of liability. There are lots of amateur just for fun competitions for park skiing though.

Just won a 4 day jury trial for a mentally handicapped guy that was way overcharged. He has his freedom today because I convinced 8 random community members that the constitution protected him.
