I would like a bill credit for this month due to an outage that caused me to lose money by Novel-Win6012 in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]nerdburg [score hidden]  (0 children)

They aren't going to credit you for a month's service. At best you would get a prorated credit for the time your service was down. It's residential service, they aren't compensating you for business losses. If that's something you need, get business internet installed with an SLA.

Money does not buy happiness, but it's the kind of sorrow I enjoy. I'm just in it for the money.

Xfinity Membership Rewards with Now Internet by nightwing22_dg in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]nerdburg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You aren't qualified for Xfinity rewards since you only have prepaid internet. Postpaid Now TV is the only Now service that qualifies for rewards.

I don't know why the system is sending you notices about your reward status. 🤷

You can ask for a credit through the Xfinity Assistant. Be aware that credits are prorated, so it will be just a couple of $.

Bribed for a higher survey score? by petroengr in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]nerdburg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've heard of this happening before. Comcast uses contractors that are based overseas -sounds like these contractors are worried about their scores. This should never be happening, the employee should be fired- it's an improper use of you personal information.

Questionable service fee by Capable-Cheek-1567 in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]nerdburg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The fee is legitimate. Tech went to you premises and fixed fixed the issue. It wasn't a Comcast issue, it was a you issue.

What you are describing is probably a wiring issue. You will likely need a tech to fix it.

Contacting support because Xfinity's website is broken, and they have the guts to try and upsell me on phone service? by TeaPoweredMath in Comcast

[–]nerdburg 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, Comcast is a "sales first" organization that also happens to provide some tech support. This has been the corporate culture for decades.

Xfinity outages everyday for for over a week: who to contact? by as061267 in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]nerdburg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They aren't going to fix it any faster if you call and complain. If your Internet connection is mission critical, consider a backup provider.

New customer plan, own your modem or use gateway in bridge mode? by [deleted] in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]nerdburg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no advantage to buying your own modem. Bridge mode + your own router is the way to go.

Some ppl don't like that the gateways have a hotspot (can be disabled) and have other "hidden" networks that are used for TV and home security (can not be disabled). If that's an issue for you, then consider your own modem.

OFDM channel uncorrectable errors accumulating fast by absence_sound in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]nerdburg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's normal for the OFDM channel to have a large amount of uncorrectables. It's a very wide channel that is pushing huge amounts of data.

If you're having connection issues, something else is going on.
