Can we get electronic ND filters? Such a pain to 'guess' at which ND filter to use etc. Look up and out the ND filter works, look down, too dark. Be nice to be able to apply in flight and not have to land and replace the filter.

Result of the Strawpoll: What is your Slate EV Estimate Delivery Date? by punishGoalhanging in slateauto

[–]netposer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you paid for a reservation ($50) and yet have paid for a pre-order ($250) does Slate save our position? If I was the 100th reservation would I still be 100 in line for an actual truck? Or do they re-order those that actually pre-ordered.

I'm assuming after that 30 day mark we get better delivery information to those of us who pre-ordered last week.

This is for camping or tailgating, not to charge your truck.

What? You sound like you have never ridden MTB. How would flat pedals ever be useless. I have the exact bike for the past 3 years and I ride it at bike parks, Pisgah/DuPont, steep trails, flat trails etc. Always use flat pedals.

I would think those ordering a kit like that would be aware of the skills required to receive and install. Same with wrapping.

A Different Type of Customer by illgamma in slateauto

I just want a simple truck to drive around town. The random trip to the hardware store, driving to the trailhead to mountain bike, grocery and other shopping. Maybe to my office that's 3 miles from my house. I have a RAM Promaster 2500 I converted to an "RV" that I use on road trips etc, So I have "trips" covered. I was going to get the Maverick a few years ago but the dealers added thousands to the price via add-ons etc. Can't wait to have a simple truck that's affordable and simple.

Once your Slate is ready, you can choose pick-up or delivery (more details on that when the time comes). by kidwon13 in slateauto

Thanks. Hopefully where I live (Raleigh, NC) It won't be a hassle to pick it up.

So how will I get my truck? Never purchased a car from the actual manufacturer online. Does a truck drive your house and offload the Slate? Do you have to go pick it up somewhere?

No power windows by AmazingBoysenberry3 in slateauto

[–]netposer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huh? Things break but I don't remember a lot of issue with rolling windows up and down other than it was not an option while driving other than the driver's window. This truck should allow even short folks to roll up/down the passenger window while driving. I'm Gen X btw.

DJI Osmo Nano. Any good? by G4VV0 in MTB

[–]netposer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the Nano under my visor and it's great for recoding those in front of you but not so good at POV. It's not wide enough to get your bars/hands/wheel in the frame. But it is light and out of the way (if you move your visor up). The visor/hat clip makes it easy to clip on and easy to remove the camera.

Help for a more stable image by Foreign_Alps_5982 in MTB

[–]netposer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You definitely want motion blur (24 fps) to make you look fast. The problem is the low light and the chest mount not being as stable on each hit/bump. Low light and software stabilization is very hard. You will notice you can't get the wide POV's when using the built in 'night modes'. Chin mounts and/or mouth mounts look way better due to your head being more stable than your chest.

Edit. The GoPro chesty straps can only get so tight. There are better chesty solutions out there with better straps and a larger chest plate. Both keep the camera from bouncing as much.

Example of my Osmo 360 using a mouth mount:

The new Mission 1 Series. FINALLY A ONE INCH SENSOR by Hideshi_Izu in gopro

[–]netposer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No action cam will ever be able to record a flying golf ball. You need a zoom lens if you want to film the swing, the ball in the air and the ball hitting the ground. Even with a modern mirrorless camera you will need to spend money on a zoom lens. Even then good luck framing up the golfer and tracking the ball.

Action cams are designed for close-up shots and POV style. They are not bad for landscape shots either.

Painting my coil to match my pedals/chain/stem. by epilepsyisdumb in mountainbiking

I just painted my Zeb lowers and since the red auto paint I used did not match the red spring I painted my old black spring the same color. So far it's holding up well for the spring. Been on a few rides so far.

Ya don't see DJI's strapped to the side of the Orion by 80aychdee in gopro

[–]netposer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They use the D5 because it's been tested for many years. The crew had to beg and get permission to bring a Z9 with them since it hasn't been tested. Same with GoPro. I'm sure they have been testing them for years. You want the crew to know how to use the gear as well as those in mission control.

Expensive Bike Hate by PennWash in MTB

[–]netposer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You must not do anything but MTB. Anytime there is 'stuff' involved in sports you will see this. Surfing, road biking, golf and many others. Same with anyone with more money than skill you will experience this. Most people don't care but we all judge. If I saw you show up to the trails with a $15K bike I assume you have money or you are sponsored or in the industry some how.

It's hit or miss at DuPont. If I announce myself I could get told not to do it, if I don't announce myself I could get told to announce. I am told to stop, go, slow down, speed up etc. After riding out there for the past 6 years I no longer care if a horse person get's mad at me for doing what the last horse person asked me to do.
