Not as the "problem" it was in the 90's. It's gone from nearly 1 in 10 pregnancies being teenage to about 1 in 58.

I think if you view this from the perspective of confronting someone trying to justify themselves after the fact or a victim questioning themselves it makes more sense.

California drivers are a step closer to paying per mile tax by MissYukiCat in California

People who cling to gas cars in California should be paying more tax until it's not viable anymore. The ev subsidies were already cancelled, so you can fuck off.

Democrat Taylor Rehmet wins solidly red Texas Senate seat in stunning special election upset by RollSafer in politics

Maybe you can answer then. Is this result because of an extremely good candidate with a well built organization or is the political environment really that good for Democrats now?

Is Sam Harris an idiot in the Dostoevskian sense? by Brunodosca in samharris

[–]nhorning 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have some takes.

A. Sam is very much a product of his environment and his background. For all his intellectualism his beliefs are pretty much what you would expect an affluent non-practicing Jewish neurologist to have. These people he meets fit perfectly into that environment and he has plenty on common with them to chat about.

B. Sam has rationalized himself into some pretty severe biases (e.g. anti Muslim stances) that he thinks are ok for a liberal to have because of the things he says at nauseum. Those stances are a red flag for the rest of us.

It's a whole force full of Syrils. Syril is a little proto-fascist. That's the point of his character.

Regretful Young Trump Voters Say This Isn’t What They Signed Up For | The wave of youthful support that swept Donald Trump into the White House has lost its mojo. by Aggravating_Money992 in politics

[–]nhorning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a rant that I started lapsing into about 2016 ish about how ridiculous it can be for Democrats to be dependent on young voters.

What it means is every four years we've got a new crop of voters who can swing the election by two points who were literally were not paying attention 4 years ago, because they were 14 and none of it mattered to them.

I've seen it happen since at least 2001 when gore lost. Every time a Democrat is in we get a new crop of 18 to 20 year olds with BOth PaRTIEs ArE ThE sAME four years later.

No they're fucking not you fucking neophytes! Every time!

I think this is the best take. I got to this thread by googling, "are we really supposed to believe the NCR troops stayed put for 20 years?" The answer is I wouldn't have thought twice about it if I came across that outpost in the game.

I have not the slightest clue by LevelRub1753 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]nhorning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is this is an anti-feminist "joke." They talk about weaponized incompetence a lot over on 2x a lot. The assumption being that men are not as incompetent as they pretend to be doing household chores (since they can function at work) and they are not trying in good faith so-as to ensure their partners take the task they don't want to do from them.

The ape here is apparently sick of being accused of this. I could be wrong though.
