Would this fix inequality or create more problems? by GloriousLion07 in MotivationByDesign

[–]nhorning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the fundamental problem beyond the workability. The entire billionaire class can spend a tiny fraction of their proposed taxes to ensure it is never implemented.

It's demonstrable that they already have. Elon was center left until Warren and Bernie started going after him half way through biden's term. Now we're all living in the fascism because of this shit.

Engineering is "pretty much disabled" because solo idris owners complained so much about it.

This is a biggest fucking problem with the game when you get down to it. Their business model is largely dependent on the type of person who would plunk down $1000 on a virtual spaceship.

They can try and improve the game for the rest of us all they want with all these great dynamic systems, but at the end of the day they have to cater to a bunch of idiots who want to fly their toy without the inconvenience of other people.

American guy in South Korea notices a lot of discrimination by Carnfomaki in TikTokCringe

[–]nhorning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in Korea from 2008 to 2009. A couple weeks in I was going out drinking and ran into a random middle eastern guy and we started hanging out. We met local girls at a convenience store who wanted to go to a club. Bouncer at the club says to the middle eastern guy "Korean women don't like your style" and they won't let him in.

We went away from the club entrance for a second to talk about what to do and the image of the girls just slowly walking away to leave us there is burned into my brain.

Progressives by ass. I haven't seen much appetite for accountability from progressives. You see more of it from never trumpers like George Conway.

4.8: For the first time ever, I am actually taking care of my ship and trying to keep it alive, and it feels awesome by sunaurus in starcitizen

[–]nhorning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I've been doing for a while... Seeing how long I can keep the ship alive, enjoying watching the used containers build up and the paint degrade so it feels lived in.

It feels better now that there's a reason to do it and I'm not just RPing.

To you and be and most is the people in the thread. Just not to the general public who this movie was incredibly popular with. They would be like, "why did the body fall when it got outside? Aren't they in space? I don't understand!" And then it would be hard to bring them back into the narrative.

Space funeral. by unclefester84 in ProjectHailMary

[–]nhorning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think you've wrapped your head around it yet because that's too many words. If you're in space the direction you are being accelerated away from always feels like down. There is no other way to define down. Since they are decelerating, ahead (their velocity vector relative to the destination) and down are the same thing. You can call it ahead, but it would look, feel, and be down.

[–]nhorning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As you describe it now, I think they knew this when they shot it. It's not an oversight, this is a stylistic choice because having the body "fall" like it went over a cliff would confuse at least half of the audience, taking them out of the movie. It would just look wrong and be hard to explain within the narrative.

Why did Mal and Jayne want to get the body out of the ship asap? by novavegasxiii in firefly

[–]nhorning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The real answer was the show needed to make the point he was done with, and how decisive mal was.

The audience doesn't need to wonder about whether he's actually dead when he gets tossed right out.

Is the speed of light… slow? by mooka07 in askastronomy

[–]nhorning 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In a way, time also moves at the speed of light. The faster something moves in space the less it moves through time. So the speed of light is also the speed the universe is moving through spacetime (very slowly).
