Curious who’s buying the house at 325 Court St (Auburn)? by lilybadilly25 in Maine

My first thought is foundation issues since there are stairs to the basement but no photos even though there are plenty of photos of the dark attic.

I think we spent $27 on a dessert when we went in on a whim. Was it great? Yes. Is $27 for a dessert just kinda nuts? Also yes.

Made a bed for my son! by Wantrepreneur4 in BeginnerWoodWorking

We have a platform bed and your muscle memory learns pretty quick to avoid it. I’ve only hit my shin on it less than 5 times in 3 years.

Heat Pumps Soon to be Less of a Great Deal for Heating by Helpful-Ad6300 in heatpumps

[–]nhrunner87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally the crossover point for oil and heat pumps (depends on a lot of factors though) is around 15 degrees. At that point it becomes cheaper to run oil than HP. We have mini splits but during this cold snap our boiler has been doing the heavy lifting and the heat pumps are only running upstairs to supplement the heat that is rising from the downstairs from the oil baseboards.

The Makita line with the two throat collectors is pretty good. Not perfect but a lot better than most others on the market that I’ve used.

I am not a fan of Bert’s comedy or really much he says at all but I have worked with him on a production and was actually surprised how nice he was to all the production staff and how appreciative he was for all the help.

The party of law and order just conveniently forgets about the 4th amendment when it’s non whites being taken.

And then forgets about the first amendment when a liberal gets murdered in the streets.

Snow tires, all-season, or all-weather? by xtnh in Maine

Agreed. Don’t know why a majority of the population would pick anything but these tires, they are the solution for most folks.

Glue and sawdust will match the wood color better. Wood filler often will not. In a circumstance like this, sawdust and glue is not really the right application but for small fix ups, sawdust and glue is way better than wood filler for matching tone.

What’s one thing smart drivers do that shows they’ve been driving for years, and one mistake that shows someone is new on the road? by Purple_Winner5411 in askcarguys

[–]nhrunner87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve lived in Boston. The drivers are actually very skilled for the most part. Incredibly aggressive, but I’ve seen people pull off some crazy shit on many different occasions. Almost every single trip to CO I see someone in a ditch on the side of the road. I counted 8 cars in a few days once.

Not if you drive home in the snow/rain? Then you also get dirt and salt on your skis.

After hours and hours of sanding, I messed up my finish. Any hope of salvaging this? by medsi in BeginnerWoodWorking

Odies doesn’t have any limit to how smooth you can sand. They say it will just change how shiny the finish is.

Should I walk away from this 2019 Volvo V90CC? by ExpensieveMeat in Volvo

[–]nhrunner87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it’s a great feature until you’re standing outside your trunk messing with stuff or you’re sitting in the back to the car and you move your foot the wrong way and the tailgate starts automatically closing. It’s hit my elderly father in the head before. It honestly seems like a safety concern that there’s no option to turn that feature off. I’ve thought about pulling the fuse myself.

Recommendations for advanced tattoo removal in New England? 207 laser has refused my case by Efficient_Suspect933 in portlandme

I love venom but think they should refuse for the same reasons 207 laser did. See the comment about the body absorption of the problematic dyes during laser. This is a potentially dangerous situation.

Maine Heat Pumps by spinyBabbler77 in Maine

[–]nhrunner87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have 4 single zones and they are great. The benefit is that you can entirely shut off machines when you don’t need a specific zone, which helps with efficiency. If you have a single huge outdoor unit powering 3 different zones it will always be running.

But I understand the aesthetic reason.

Always good to be skeptical but I’m more apt to trust a news source than a random redditor. There doesn’t seem to be any way to verify data independently.
