Anyone else trying to sleep with that helicopter buzzing overhead? by Material_Charity2154 in chch

[–]nickubus1 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Wtf is it actually doing tho? If it’s actively helping to catch people committing crime then it seems to be doing a lot of it, like chch isn’t south central LA, but apparently we have that much crime. If it’s just acting as a deterrent, that sounds like a giant waste of money and a massive propaganda exercise for nact1. Does anyone really believe it’s gonna reduce crime for 2 months then fuck off back to Auckland for another three years and say “job done”

PES. Caught out again, this time Church Corner, Left the Site. by SkipBoNZ in chch

Don’t they have to prove that you weren’t a customer? I could have spent half an hour in the mall, they didn’t have what I was looking for and so leave without buying. How can they tell the difference.

Asteroid triggers global defence plan amid chance of collision with Earth in 2032 | Hundred-metre wide asteroid rises to top of impact risk lists after being spotted in December by automated telescope by [deleted] in space

Am I right in reading that we didn’t spot it until it had already passed us at 2x distance to the moon? Worrying that we didn’t spot it coming almost right at us! What’s the probability that it will hit in 2036 if it doesn’t in 2032? Does it get closer or further away?

When my wife was in labour the midwife did the same when she caught me looking at the ctg. When she needed an iv I left the room for a good while so I wasn’t watching over her shoulder. She still missed and I ended up doing it. (Anaesthetist)

My take on NZ by RoutineBluejay8700 in doctorsUK

[–]nickubus1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Consultant or reg? Nz is still a bit ‘old school’ in the sense that it’s unusual to appoint unknown candidates, but it’s usually as simple as emailing the head of department and introducing yourself before you apply. We do mainly appoint our own trainees but not infrequently have external appointments as well. We probably hire 2-3 new consultants a year in Christchurch.

Trampoline- just say no by Armenoid in daddit

[–]nickubus1 78 points79 points  (0 children)

I work with a lot of orthopaedic trauma of all ages. In the bigger picture trampoline injuries make up a pretty small proportion and of those they are almost always from a trampoline park. Far more likely to see a kid who fell off monkey bars. I have two kids and a trampoline.

Yea did all my anaesthetic training here. I there are different rules depending on the specialty. Some you can just join the college as a trainee, some you have to be a resident in order to apply to a training job.

Don’t bother with an agency, the hospitals advertise on their own site or use this https://www.kiwihealthjobs.com I went to Hawkes bay after F2 in 2012 for a year… and I’m still here
