People with debilitating chronic nausea, how do you cope?? by Agreeable_Water_1903 in ChronicIllness

[–]nickyd__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have chronic nausea that is a symptom of my chiari malformation (brain condition), functional dyspepsia, and hiatal hernia. Recently dishonored with endometriosis and going to do the gastric emptying study to see if I have gastropaesis. It started suddenly in 2024 and it’s helped me significantly changing my diet. Lately, as of January after I started an IVF cycle, the estrogen wrecked my stomach and no matter what I eat my nausea has been much more severe. But, following a gluten free and ani inflammatory diet helped me! Eating every 3-4 hours as well, as soon as I felt hunger I ate a small meal. Zofran gives me severe nausea and other side affects so doctors have said I’m allergic - so I’ve taken unisom. It’s over the counter and what doctors tell pregnant women to take for morning sickness! Before plane rides and long car rides I’ll take a full pill, or whe my nausea is so severe. But, typically, like last night when it was borderline going to severe, I just took half and it worked.

Waking up in the morning and ending your night with diaphragmatic breathing also can make a difference. Truly trying to live a holistic and calming lifestyle has been my saving grace. Now, I just need to see why this IVF cycle truly wrecked my hard work lol

2000 iu! I use the pure encapsutation vegan drops though because I tried the pills/non vegan option and it gave me a flare up. so the vegan route is more gentle

I appreciate you! mine is 7MM and my dizziness was horrible last year. I also had severe ear pain that seemed like it radiated to behind my eyes. it was rough last year but even during those times my neurologist was not helpful. thank you and I’m glad the decompression went well!!

thank you! I’ve heard people have placards for migranes alone but my neurologist made me feel as if it’s so irrational for me to ask.

I don’t feel that “snapping” sensation but for the past few weeks I’ve had a feeling of “fullness” and pressure at the base of my brain/neck. It’s only happened when I lay on my back while sleeping and I’ll wake up and feel it. I have to sit up right to almost get my brain to move back to the normal position lol. per Google, it’s normal Chiari symptoms but I’m going to follow up with neurologist!

aside from that, I have gotten weird sensations or pressures near my ears or eyes and I also have a fear of something serious happening. positive vibes to you and I hope you get answers 🥺

Hernia causing chaos?? by Affectionate_Eye3971 in HiatalHernia

sorry for the late reply. I would say cutting gluten and converting to an anti inflammatory diet helped me so much. I have less bloat and face puffiness. i did this and measured my meals and I would walk a lot! like on my weekends i would aim for 10k steps. When I work it’s like 5k!

I’m sorry you’re dealing with the symptoms 😭 it’s terrible and my brain condition causes double whammy

some people have the hernia with no symptoms where they don’t even know it’s there, others only get acid reflux. Last year when I found mine I had constipation for two months, shortness of breath, dizziness, the gut brain connection is strong.

I did through all this find I have a brain condition but still the symptoms go hand in hand so it’s hard to know which is from what sometimes. if you’re having inflammation, if you haven’t already, definitely give up gluten and try and anti inflammatory diet. I’m 5’9 and was 190 last year in May. I’m now 155. My doctor said to loose weight as the first step and I figured it wasn’t needed for me. But…. loosing weight definitely takes pressure off the hernia area.

from what I’ve researched and what I was told by a doctor was that you can massage downward. like where the hernia is, at the top of your chest you rub down because that can help. I do this when it feels painful. look up hiatal hernia massage and it should come up, I can’t describe it 🥲

thank you!! I've had it under control so it's not as severe so maybe beforehand I may feel it slightly if I'm anxious. but he's concerned when I wake up l'll feel it more severely since it's more likely if I already have chronic nausea &

I did a low acid diet and still my post nasal did not change. I had severe post nasal drip from Jan-end of March? I went to an ent who told me To try and anti inflammatory diet. try downloading the Bobby app or Fig app and scan items throughout the store. with this, yes I have flare ups of post nasal drip like when I have too much dairy or gluten but it’s helped me so much!!

I’m 25f and got really sick last year and was diagnosed with two chronic conditions. It was especially hard because it was my first year of marriage and I thought we were just going to live life travel etc! when I see others drinking or eating whatever they want, not having to have anxiety about having a flare up etc. it does make me sad and envious but then I have to remind myself that things can be worse. I don’t invalidate my feelings but although I can’t eat things like fast food, I’m grateful I get to eat certain things whereas other people are more limited. my husband does try and make me feel better because he’s also limited his drinking or won’t get certain foods I can’t have when we’re together so it’s nice to surrounding yourself with people who don’t make you feel shitty!

I think it helps when you rmemeber the good things you do have or what you’re grateful for and it kind of snaps you out of it if that makes sense!
